Stall and gaining

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am 6 1/2 months out, and while I have experienced mini stalls along the way my current situation has me a little stressed out. I was averaging about 10 lbs a month but since the end of march I've only lost 5-6 lbs, which I was ok with. It has to slow down sometime right? But in the last two weeks I've crept up about 2 lbs. The only thing I've changed is that I've upped my calories from 800-900, my nut wants me at 1200 but I struggle to get even 900 and now that I'm gaining I'm hesitant to add more calories. Yes, I track everything on mfp. Yes, I get in all of my Protein and Water. Yes, I do low carb. I have been more active in the last few weeks, and, nothing. The stall I can handle, it's normal, healthy, blah blah, but the gaining really sucks. I've been between 175 and 171 for a month. Is this it?

It'll be IT when you see the bright light.......until then, get your butt moving.

Is this it?

It's just another stall. Try mixing up the calorie total. a couple of days at near 1200 and then do a few 800 days. Keeps the bod from getting used to a pattern. And don't fret a measly couple of pounds. I'll lose a couple and the next day they're back. ( it makes me laugh). Then a few days later, they're gone for good. Keep at it. ;)

OMGOODNESS! It thought it was just happening to me! I'm about the same in calories 700-800! If I add a few more I'll gain 2lbs! I really know your frustration!

Ok, sorry you're struggling too but, honestly, I'm glad it's not just me. I recently started going to the gym so hopefully that will help jump start things again. I would love to eat 1200 calories a day but the absolute most I can pack in (without eating crap) is 1000, and at that I feel totally stuffed all day. I've never had a stall this long, especially with a gain so I hope my gym efforts pay off soon.

if you're going to the gym that could explain the gain. muscle weights more than fat. you will begin to lose again. you're more than likely still losing, while fat is being replaced with muscle. it's very frustrating. however, so worth it when you're body looks healthy and you're not all flabby! keep on keeping on girls! Better days ahead!

Happy Losing,

Mississippi Girl!

The process of tearing down and rebuilding muscles (strength training) requires Fluid retention. 2-3 pounds of weight gain is common for me from intense workouts OR just hormonal fluctuations which result in Fluid retention.

Keep in mind 3,500 calories = a pound of fat. That meandering 3,500 calories you are and did not use. So unless you are drinking milkshakes, juice, and eating slider crap all day long... Don't fret a couple pounds that show up from time to time. They are temporary visitors. Don't let them ruin your day!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
