good Morning tashautah and terisis, just wanted you both to know that I will be keeping you both in my thoughts as the next few days go by. I am rather a newbie at this, but felt because of that I could let you know that all you are feeling right now is normal. Fear, excited, fear, excited...they were the same here...and somedays I still feel that way...wondering if those feelings will ever go away. this is a new life challenge, the difference this time is you will have WLS that will help you meet those challenges head on from now on. it gets difficult at times, so don't think everything will be cherry...but you will have the band and the support from a lot of folks like me to listen and let you know what we feel or what we dealt with...it will be okay I promise!!! you have made a great choice in making your life healthier...remember to be true to yourself and your band and listen to what your doctor tells you and you both will be successes in no time. I will be thinking of both of you and hope to see more posts from you soon. Best wishes...have a great day!!!

Hi there and congratulations -- it's a very exciting and nerve-wracking time. The pre-op diet can also really dial up all those emotions because we can't do our usual tamping down of feelings with food. We can all sympathize with pre-op jitters, that's for sure! I had never been an overnight patient before and I was amazed at how much easier and pleasant it all was compared to what I imagined. I filled the prescription for pain medication but never used it. At the hospital every one was there to make me as comfortable as possible. I compared the experience to other things like dentistry or bad cramps, etc., and that made me realize the pain was not bad at all. Perspective is everything. A good sense of humor really helped as there is the element of the ridiculous -- all those papers to sign, the cap and gown, the being wheeled around on a gurney. If it is any help, I am six months out (today!) and I can't recall any of the discomfort -- all I can think about is how thrilled I am each and every day to have my band. Really!

I am in the same boat.... SCARED & NERVOUS & EXCITED all at the same time. I keep reassuring myself everything will be just fine. Look for the positive in all of this - think of how great you will feel and how others will be tossing compliments your way! :)

Lots of luck and remember we are all in this together!

Hi Tasha and Terisis,

I was banded on 4/11/14 felt the same about surgery. Second guessed myself all the way to the hospital but know I needed an intervention. I like my surgeon who is well experienced in banding. The anesthesiologist came in and talked to me and assured me all was well. The doctor came in to check on me and assured me he was on it and would take good care of me. the nurses were pleasant and because it was an Adventist hospital a chaplain came in to pray with me. After they got me into the operating room and gave me the meds in my IV, I was all good. It was like getting on an airplane. I trusted the pilot (and God) to get me to my destination and always arrived safely. So be encouraged and see this as the beginning of your journey.

My doctor had me on a high Protein diet and I didn't get hungry. I'm still doing high Protein and only eat when I feel hunger pangs and even then I don't need a lot. Not even nearly as much as I use to....at all.

So far I've lost 28lbs. It hasn't been a month yet....I'm stoked.

Good luck to all of you…you will do AMAZING!

Nervous and excited are all normal! Everyone's journey is different. Embrace yours and try not to compare with others…especially on the weight loss part!

It's all worth it…oh yes it is, in my opinion!

Hang in there all….the pre-ops will be over soon!

It's totally normal to be scared and excited! I am so happy for all of you as you follow your own journey. I am 9 weeks post-surgery and every day I discover something new about myself and the band. I am thinking good thoughts that you will have a great experience as well.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
