Kids meal and wine

Recommended Posts

Ordering off the kid's menu is a great idea, but most placed I have been say you must be a kid and put an age limit on it. Has anyone ever told the restaurant that they had bariatric surgery and needed to order the smaller portion?

My drs office gave me a "bariatric restauran" card, asking the server to allow me the kids/smaller portion meal cuz I had bariatric surgery and can't eat much. I had it refused once at Hometown Buffet (where I'd like to pay childs prices cuz I eat about $1 worth of food) so I didn't even try it again till a few weeks ago. I always make sure and scope out the kids menu first (sometimes it's just chicken nuggets, burgers, and pizza) and see if there's anything on there I want.

Cpl weeks ago we went to a Mexican place for dinner. I ordered the kids quesadilla and it was HUGE. no wonder kids today are fat...

Yesterday I went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch. Ordered the kids wings. gave me 4 wing pieces and fries. Brought 3 of em home (no fries as they don't reheat well) and it was perfect. The server had to run it past the manager tho.

I've only been denied once. And as long as there's something on the kids menu, I will order it. I enjoy bringing home a box but I still do that with the kids menu. Wish there were some salads on the kids menu!!!

Ask ur drs office for a bariatric card. U might be able to download one online also. Google it. Good luck!

I go to Red Lobster all the time and order the steamed crab legs. Crab is really low in calories but high in Protein and goes down so smooth.

I almost ate one of the biscuits once, until I saw that a single biscuit is 150 calories! EEk! Maybe when I hit goal, but that's just too much for me!

Also ALWAYS ask if they make the adult Entrees in kid sizes, you would be amazed at the number of places that can do just that. :)

places that do half portions or are known to allow ordering off the kids menu:

I am still on liquids so I have not ordered off a menu yet. I do not see myself choosing the kids menu items. I would not even let my children order off the kids menu most the time when they were little because all it contained was junk food. The actually had no interest in most the items anyways. Only a few place offer things like a smaller steak and veggie option or grilled items for kids.

We very rarely go to chain restaurants. My husband was for many years head chef for an award winning chef in New Orleans and is a trained french pastry chef. We are very picky, almost snobby about restaurants and menu options. I am very excited that our favorite restaurant that has a small plate menu which normally would cost us a fortune to fill us up at $15 a plate for 2-5 amazing bites will be perfect for a full meal now.

I am joining friends for lunch this week and plan to order the broth for the chicken noodle Soup at the korean restaurant.

I would order an appetizer or a regular meal ask about half portions or take home leftovers.

My favorite mex-grill place lets me order a kids meal, but most won't around here. I mostly order appetizers because all I want is the Protein anyway - I skip the sides pretty much. I like something like a shrimp skewer or perhaps a small salad with shrimp or chicken on it.

I am not a fan of the Kids menu either... its all crap food... but if they have good appetizers i will get that... or shrimp cocktail or order a meal that I really like and will have it for days after. My Husband took me out for Breakfast Sunday – we split a Breakfast – I ate the egg white, he had the rest… it was great, he said we should split meals more often...

2mos ago We went to a Brazilian steak house – I had called a head of time & explained why I could only eat about 2 oz of food… they agreed to charge me their Kids price.

Tonight I go to a post-op meeting & picking my card from my docs office. (I never knew to ask for one until the other day – I had posted a question about medical bracelets / medical cards – apparently it’s a good idea to have both)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
