Reforming The Fat Girl

Recommended Posts

I read your first post, I was taken back by something you said. People have debated the choice you made? wow Really?

So have to let on to your new co-workers yet?

Frequently actually. Many people challenge the decision. I don't think they view weight as a health concern. Its as though its cosmetic.

I did tell my new co-workers. Its just too awkward. I'm no good at secrets.

Hah I like you E!

I think it comes from Jealosy that people will debate a decision like the ones that we the over endowed will make. I have know so many "skinny" people to say to me "just dont eat" yea right, just walk a mile in my shoes...they couldnt take the weight...

Im sure your coworkers looked at you sideways when you were only eating a babies portion of stuff LOL

you should be proud of yourself!

Interesting post! I definitely feel like my surgery and weight loss has kind of overcome my identity in the past 1-2 years as it is the focus of a lot of my thoughts a lot of the day. There is kind of a "now what" feeling once you get a little further out from surgery. Now who am I? Now what is the new "normal"? Now how do I keep the "new me"? I also had that thought as we hired a new person at work a couple of weeks ago. I don't know what made me think of it but I realized she will never have known I was obese before, just by looking at me. That is so weird to me because I feel like everyone just "knows" that the real me is fat. I still kind of feel like I'm faking "thin"...... There's a lot to be said of identity issues through this journey for sure.

I have a close friend who has been sober for over 10 years. For the first few years after cleaning up she immediately confessed to being in recovery. She says that she no longer feels the need to announce her sobriety. She lives a sober life but it doesn't define her.

How did they react? Do they treat you differently now? I sure hope not!

The skinny ladies treat me the same. The one who just had a baby and is dealing with the extra weight is kind of annoyed about it. I get it. What woman struggling with her weight wants to hear "nah, I just ate a spoonful of Peanut Butter and couldn't eat another thing"!?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
