Hi everyone. I'm new on here and from Sydney.

My sleeve surgery is on 20th October.

Any advice?

Hi there

My advice is it hurts a little in recovery more just uncomfortable and you still have food cravings but you just can't eat it the 1st 4 weeks is hard because it's only Fluid your allowed to have so you might get hungry but you can't satisfy if fully But once you can start mushy foof things look up

The best bit is the scale dropping super fast it makes it so worth it!!!

I have lost 35kg in 6 months!!!! ????????????

Hello!

In new on board, and although I haven't read this entire thread, it appears you guys have a great support system. I'm in regional Vic so I think Melbourne is as local as I'm going to get!

I haven't be given a date yet, which I'm so eager for. I'm keen to prep and get myself going.

Hope to see some more posts here in the future.

Hi Bella,

I was given my date last week, 23rd of March! So I have plenty of time to prep.

At the time of writing this I was just waiting on my next appointment with the surgery, but aside from that I had jumped through all of the hoops.

Having a date certainly makes it feel more real!

Hi! I'm new to this site & so excited to finally find some Aussies!!!!

I have had a lap band done by Chris Hensmann in 2011 & am now contemplating bypass surgery.

I would really like to meet a few people that may live nearby in eastern Melbourne that have had either revision surgery or straight bypass surgery. I don't know where to start!!!!

Hopefully someone on here mayb able to help?

Thanks ????

I hate all the hoops we have to jump thru but it's so worth it to get it done!!

Hi Lyn

I have known a few people with lap bands they appear to fail over time and they regain the weight I think the sleeve is similar as I can eat double what I could a year ago and can gain if I have a big one still

I don't have any advice on bypass sorry Hun I haven't been there I know the Americans are big on that procedure Good luck with what you decide ????

Hi

I'm new too! I have my sleeve date of 29th Feb. super excited and have already started Optifast .. 5.1kg down since 1 feb!! It is foul! Yuk!!! Add ice to make it slushy like a frape and use a straw to get it down helps! ... Surgeon said to do 10 days but I figure the more I lose now the better and safer for the operation.

I live up Mt Dandenong on 10 acres. As hilly I get some steps! Walking around the block is not an option on these mountain pass roads!

Well that's me, I would love to connect with some of you in the area ????

First post Newbi

Hey Lizzbeth, Good luck with surgery.

I am now 11 days out of surgery. First day was not too bad plenty of pain meds. Drinking Water was difficult, but cordial and peppermint team much easier. The walking around the ward on from day one also really helped get the gas out of the system, I recommend it.

I am tired a lot more at the moment and trying to do my 10,000 steps a day.......

cheers

Weight loss ok own 6kg from operation day.

I did loose about 5kg on the Optifast diet over the 3 weeks leading up (was only meant to be on Optifast for two weeks prior, but surgery was delay a week to an unrelated infection.

Any walking you can do now will help, but not always easy.....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
