Almost 3 Weeks Post Op: Calories?

Recommended Posts

Almost 3 weeks post op now- so I'm cleared for mushies. I got lucky- no hunger, getting all my fluids, everything goes down fine. I got the Iron sleeve lol. One thing I've been concerned about is calories....

On average, how many calories do/ did you guys eat at 3 weeks post op?

I'm averaging at 700-800. I include all my supplements which some people chose not to and those alone come out to about 70 calories a day. Also, I walk at least 1 hour each day as part of my commute- does my calorie intake seem too high for this point in time? I am a "low weight" so it concerns me that I'm eating the same number of calories as someone substantially heavier than me, since I worry it will slow down the loss.

Please share your thoughts!

I talked to my doctor about caloric intake at 3 weeks out as well.

he told me for the first 3 months concentrate on the amount of Protein and not so much on calories. Get in your 65 grams of Protein and 64 oz of Water. Don't focus on calories. He also said if you need a guideline - 70% protein, 20% fat, 10% carbs,

I use MY Fitness Pal, log everything but don't track calories - I just make sure I'm getting enough protein.

Today at 5 weeks I still only eat 500-600 calories a day - with no hunger.

I'm getting somewhere between 800-1000 with the majority being Protein. My Fitness Pal is a great app for tracking. My Dr told me the same thing, not to worry too much about calories, just get in the required Protein. I am getting in about 100 grams of protein per day.

My Dr is the complete opposite. Well, not complete I guess. At three months out I'm supposed to be at 70 grams of Protein in no more than 600 calories :/

Sorry, had to vent a little

If you are eating 700-800 a day and walking an hour you are doing perfect.

I am 3 weeks out and I am getting my Protein in, have some problems with the Water at times. The biggest thing is I am having problems with my blood sugars. Just in the last couple of days I have had very low blood sugars and have to find something to eat to get them up.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
