Things I won't miss...

Recommended Posts

I can't wait to walk in public places and not be ashame to see people I have not seen in a while. I can remember going the opposite direction to avoid a old friend of mine, because of being embarrassed about my weight.

I would wish for longer winter weather to keep myself in the house so that I wouldn't have to be outside for people to see how fat I got. Constantly lying to myself saying I'll loose weight before the weather breaks (getting bigger and bigger).

I will not miss the disrespectful way some people treat overweight people.

The not being taken seriously because of my size. Being looked over for oppurtinity because everyone assumes I am not healthy. I am overweight but I love myself and my family just as much as anyone else.

These lists are exactly right!! I have a couple I'd like to add:

--I won't miss the awkwardness that is me climbing on the back of my husband's motorcycle- or the looks I'm sure we get when we are out for a ride. Thankfully my husband doesn't care at all <3

--Being the slowest walker in my break-time walking group;

--Being asked by small children about the "baby in my belly" even though I'm big, not at all pregnant looking :-/

--Feeling like I want to shower every 8-10 hours all summer

--The embarrassment of getting anything to eat but a salad in the cafeteria at work (I hate salad!!)

--People's "concern" over my health even though I am crazy healthy. I'm just fat. (I NEVER use the F-word!!)

I'm sure there's more things that I won't miss or that we all will not miss. But I think these things will be great motivation for all of us before and after surgery. Can't wait for my date, probably in the fall. :))

I keep thinking of a new one everyday. This is today's... I most definitely will not miss my underwear rolling down underneath the crease of my stomach. Is it only me who has this problem?

My surgery is going to be May 8th so very soon. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. But this thread is reminding of why I'm doing this.... I won't miss being the fat friend Not being able to cross my legs Sweating while trying on close Expensive bras Being afraid of the small airplane seats and the seatbelt Not being able to wear a belt Knee pain Fear of intimacy. Shopping in the plus size section My stomach rolls Hating myself in pictures My mom saying you have done it before on your own why can't you do it again People saying they don't think I need the surgery but they have no clue what it's like to be overweight literally your whole life. Not feeling like the person I know I am meant to be but is hidden by a lot of weight Back fat Things I can't wait for.... Shopping at Victoria's Secret Wearing single digit pant size Being able to walk up stairs with no issue Feeling lighter and healthier Being able to sit on my fiancées lap and feeling confident that I won't crush him Feeling beautiful in my upcoming wedding Wear summer cloths and not feel disgusting in them.... Not have the shorts ride up in between my legs For my legs to not rub together Be able to paint my toes a lot easier Walking to be enjoyable Cute cloths Actually looking forward to summer and winter for both the same reason, the cloths. Summer to be cooler and not afraid to show some skin and winter I might finally be able to wear a pretty sweater indoors and not want to strip naked cause I'm so hot haha I'm ready for my life to change I'm ready to be the person I know have always been inside. I'm tired of trying to hide myself so maybe people won't think I'm fat. I'm over it my life is more important than food and so is my happiness. God bless you all.

The count down is on! I wish I was in your shoes & having surgery in a couple days. Keep reading your list so you're reminded of all the reasons why this surgery is a BRILLIANT tool. Keep your eyes on the prize! We are all here cheering you on!!!

I won't miss having only two or three options of stores I can shop in when at the mall

When I got my Easter outfit this year, the girl said to enjoy and see ya soon. I politely thought to myself that this will be the last outfit I buy at this store. It was a great feeling.

Thank you so much I'm freaking out a little can't believe it's happening this Thursday. I remember not that long ago when I didn't think it was going to happen at all. I feel so blessed for this opportunity. One more day of work then clear liquid day then surgery day. I think I'm gonna do a play by play thread while in the hospital for people who are waiting for their big day.

Omgosh! Underwear that rolls down in general, regardless of size. And having to make sure to buy just the right kind so that it is less likely for that to occur?! Just as annoying.

Yep I hate that too! Especially when I'm in a public place and can't fix it! So irritating.....

I read something today on Facebook that I never though of and like it...... WE ARE NOT FAT, WE HAVE FAT!! A small quote that meant huge to me, because well we are getting rid of the fat we have, however we are all the same person before and after our surgery, it's the people outside that make us feel like we are different because of the "fat" we are carrying, I hope this makes sense, it's 3:35am and I'm sleepy from a long night at work but I so look forward to coming on here before I go to bed and I couldn't wait to share this :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
