Restriction in the morning

Recommended Posts

Good Morning,

Share with me about how soon you can drink or eat and what you can drink or eat in the morning....right now I can't get anything except baby sips of warm liquid and no food until 3-4pm in the afternoon. I am off to do some shopping and will check back this afternoon.

Thank you in advance, Susan

Susan, have you tried warm or hot liquids in the am. to open up the stoma. 3-4pm sounds so late. Today I woke up starving so I am slowly eating some oatmeal. Other days I can take in a Protein Shake 10-11 a.m. Are you able to sip a Protein shake in the a.m. You may very well be a bandster that has to have 2 Protein Shakes and 1 meal a day. Julie

Thanks for replying...here's my day so far. I made some hot tea and we took off to go shopping. I took tiny little sips and by the time I got to Target (about 45 minutes and 1/4 cup of liquid) I had to go to the bathroom and slim came up. My throat was burning, so I bought some pepcid. I slowly dissolved 1 pill and about 20 minutes later, I slimed it up. I dissolved one more and it stayed down for about 30 minutes. I called my doc's office to see if I could come in for a slight unfill (had a fill last Wednesday went from .5 in my band to a total of 1.2cc and have been on liquids since then). No one was in, so I told her I would try to slip on warm liquids and see how things went tomorrow. During my call to her, I had to have my hubby pull over and slimed some more. Got home, heated some Water and got a couple of sips down. About 1 hour later, I again felt the pressure in my stomach and slimed some more. I decided to try something cold, so I just had a popsicle and will see how long it stays down. Standing feels better than sitting.

Now, I am not new to banding and I used to have up to 1.8 without problems. I had a barium swallow last month and my doc says everything is in its proper place.

Thank you very much,

Susan

When I first got my band and up until almost a year out I couldn't eat anything solid first thing in the morning. So I'd have my coffee, cocoa or iced coffee and then I'd eat around 10am and that would be a scrambled egg or omelet. Something on the softer side. I couldn't eat any hard Protein until at least noontime but, you shouldn't have to go until 3pm. Definately mention this to your physician.

Hi there

sounds to me you are too tight. You cant go on for too long not drinking properly until mid afternoon, you will eventually get de-hydrated. I really think you probably need a de-fill. I have had my band for over 2years and am booking to have a defill because since having a fill 3 days ago am only able to take fluids, however I drink drink and drink, tea, coffee, fruit juice, clear Soups etc

You gotta look after yourself otherwise you will make yourself ill.

Good luck and take care

Gaynor

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
