Watching people eat......

Recommended Posts

Okay so it's been about a month since I had surgery... And it kills me to see people eat in front of me... It's so hard. I'm at a family birthday and everyone is eating garbage... Tons and tons of junk food. And I'm over here like... Let me just drink this water.. I want to cry. I think I'm more irritated than anything that I can't have solid foods yet.. Input please!

You think that is tough. Wait until everyone stops eating and stares at you as if you were some kind of phenomenon. and then you get irritated because you want them to stop it. Then there will be a time when you look around and will start seeing them all eat and you will think..What I eat this much and am alive.. What are they doing to themselves.... Right now your experiencing this..Later it will be turned around and you will be so pleased you have your bypass protecting you.....trust me!!!!

I say it all the time about my sleeve..I am so glad I have it!!!!!!

I agree. It drives me crazy too. I got lucky this weekend. I just came from brothers birthday party with his in laws. They set out normal size plates and I had this giant plate with like 3 bits of food on it and everyone else's plate was loaded down. Also the not having a drink with dinner is weird for everyone. At least it was good food I could eat. His mother in law makes some really amazing African dishes and I had some amazing chicken lol.

To get around the drinking thing, I always ask for a glass of Water. Nobody ever notices that you don't drink it. At least I have yet to have somebody notice...

I totally empathize with you, Danika. I too hate watching other people eat what I can't. Today's my birthday and my husband can't take me out for dinner - I'm only 6 weeks out and just started "soft food" yesterday. I have actually turned down most invitations involving food. I tell myself it will be worth it in the end - hang in there.

Yeah it'll be worth it for US! But this is like torture lol. I just wanna be able to eat food... Like I just want a carrot or lettuce or something lol anything... I'm 21. And all my friends are getting wasted and I'm just sitting at home looking at my ceiling..

I went out this weekend for my brothers birthday. Everyone was taking shots, a lot of them forgot and kept offering me shots. I didn't even really want to drink or be drunk, but it sucked so bad to be the only sober one. At least I could DD.

Yeah that's how I see it too. Is being DD. it's still sucks. I know that once we are able to drink its very small amounts. Which is good.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
