I am 12 days post op and taking my Vitamins now. I was told to take:

Iron - chewable

B12 - spray

Calcium with vit D - chewable

mulitvitamin - chewable

wondering if this is enough. What about teeth? What Vitamin stops teeth deteriorating?

Those are exactly the Vitamins I was told to take. My surgery is tomorrow but I've already purchased all of my Vitamins. I'm not sure about teeth, though. Might call your NUT and check. I would guess that the Multivitamin would cover that.

Be sure to take Calcium and Iron 3 hours apart. If you take them together, they compete for absorption and you wont get either one

Its Iron and Calcium, not vitamins and calcium.

Straight off my surgeons Vitamin instructions. Of course, you don't have to take my word for it. Do what you want.

My nut told me to take the Calcium 2-3 hours after you take your multi vit with Iron, it has to do with absorbing them.

April, I wasn't being rude. Our doctors don't always tell us details, that's why I live this site! My Iron is in my Vitamins so it would be hard to separate that but I could take them in the morning and Calcium in the evenings

"Calcium makes it harder for your body to absorb either supplemental Iron or Iron from food, according to the National Institutes of Health. Calcium competes for absorption with iron in your intestines and reduces its uptake. This means that a multi-mineral supplement is likely not the best way of getting iron due to the negating effects of the calcium and some other minerals."

My nutritionist also told me to take my Calcium and Iron at least 2 hours apart.

You need calcium citrate chewable 1200 mg, a B12 shot, and 2 Flintstone vitamins.. nothing more

You should ask your doctor

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
