New here, but not so new to lapband. I am strugling and need some inspiration.

Recommended Posts

I was banded January 2013 and weighed 233 pounds at that time. I had enough of the yo-yo dieting and during the first 7 months I lost 30 pounds. I then decided that having a baby was very important to me and I decided to focus my all on this. I finally became pregnant and had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. I was heartbroken. I then became pregnant two months later and miscarried again. I have to words to explain. I am now trying to put the pieces of my heart back together and I decided that I need to work on healing and part of this is loosing weight. I recently went for a fill as I have gained 15 pounds. I need some advice, I really want to get back on my feet and reach my goals.

No one can possibly understand the pain of a miscarriage, until they've had one....I, like you, suffered two miscarriages....both at 12 weeks.....and you do need time to heal....take that time for yourself and if weight loss is part of that time, then give it your all. You can be healthy AND have your precious baby. Welcome and good luck!!!!!

Hi Shirley,

You have been through a lot over the last year or so. It's not easy going through what you have and your body really does need some time and space to heal. Emotions and hormones are probably all out of balance right now and it's going to take some time to get back on solid footing again.

Taking the time to work on your health is a step in the right direction. My best advice to you is to make an appointment with your lapband Dr. and go in for an assessment. Check on your fill level and get one if you need one to get motivated again.

See if you can schedule some time with your nutritionist to help you get back on track with your nutrition and eating habits. They may also be able to offer advice on how to balance your hormones so your feeling a bit more in balance.

If your group has a psychologist make an appointment to meet with them so they can give you some guidance and support as you move toward your weight loss goals and heal your broken heart. There is never any shame in reaching out for support, so come back here as often as you need. This is a great group for support.

I agree, you have gone through so much lately. It would be good idea to go back and see the Band Dr. and start from zero again; probably the amount of weight you have lost is not yet enough for your hormones to be in balance and carry a successful pregnancy. I would focus on regain my health, emotions, carry out my weight loss successfully before trying again for a baby. Don't be afraid of gaining weight with pregnancy, you will be fine and you are fortunate to have a precious tool that will help you along... Go for it!! make that appointment and start your new journey! get motivated and visit this forum often to let us know your progress, it is all good and we need to take care of us in first place. Good luck. Maria

Shirley - I am so sorry for your loss. I had two miscarriages too and I completely understand. I know how heartbroken you feel.

I know that you have been through a lot and I can understand the emotions and the overeating. Stress does it to me every time. You want to get your body healthy again, just try to put your focus on that right now. Do things that make you happy (besides eating), take long walks (if you can), go outside and enjoy the Spring air, read some good books, take long baths. Be good to yourself. It is going to take some time, but just give yourself that.

I hope that you feel better soon. We are all hear to listen :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
