Upping calories by 400?

Recommended Posts

My surgeons plan has me going from 800 calories a day to 1200 calories a day at six months. First. .. how am I supposed to eat 1 1/2 times more than I'm eating now? Most days I struggle to get in the 800 calories. Second. .. 1200 calories sound closer to maintenance to me. Will I still lose weight eating this many calories this soon out? I don't know what to do.

I'm less than 2 weeks out and getting 600 calories in right now. I can't see a problem with coming close to hitting 1200 at 5 weeks which is what my nutritionist wants. One Premier Protein shake is 160. A cheese stick is 80-100. snack on a few almonds. That adds up quickly!

This whole calorie goal perplexes me. Everyone is so different. I asked my NUT how many calories I should be consuming and she danced around the question when she wasn't straight up avoiding me. I am in my 6th month and shooting for 900 calories, but in usually go over a bit. I would have no problem consuming 1200 daily. But I'm afraid to increase anymore because I'm not losing the lady couple weeks. In fact, I'm up a couple pounds. I wish I knew the magic number.

I'm curious - does your surgeon/medical center's plan includes metabolic testing? At 4 months I had that done and it was an eye opener regarding my resting metabolic rate and what my target daily calorie intake should be. Very illuminating!

My nut wanted us to not look at calorie intake but at our Protein intake. We were given a range we were to stay within according to weight height and age.

I want to know the magic number, too! I can't believe you have a hard time getting 800 cals in! I could easily double that. For example:

By 3pm today I had already had

Protein shake for b-fast

Yogurt and a few almonds for a snack

Protein Bar for lunch (this is NOT typical, I just couldn't stop for lunch today)

So by 3 pm, I'd already consumed almost 700 and I still need to eat dinner

I don't get it

I'm curious about this-how does it work. If my surgeons office offers this, I'm not aware of it. What type of ace would you go to have one done on your own (ie general practitioner, personal trainer, etc)? I free that mine is very low since I've struggled with weight my whole life....

Thanks!

I am 8 months and I stay at 1000 to 1100 and I am still loosing. 1400 to 1500 I stay the same and no loss.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
