I was sleeved on 3/24, been doing okay. Everyday get ms a little easier but now in having issues with feeling like something is constantly in my throat without being full. I'm assuming it's reflux? Anyone having this?? Also it's very hard for me to take in for then about 30 oz a day, which is scary because I don't want to get dehydrated. Any feedback?!

Hmm, reflux to me is when stomach acid comes flooding up your throat and into your stomach, I have never experienced it as "something" (like a solid "something"?) in my throat. It sounds to me like you might have swelling in your throat or esophagus, either from being intubated or possibly having a hiatal hernia repair, if you had one? You should probably call your surgeon's office and describe your symptoms to be sure.

As far as getting fluids in -- you should have something to drink within arm's reach and be sipping any time you are awake. If you are having trouble with cold liquids, try warm or hot (tea, coffee if permitted, broth), and vice versa. If you are struggling with just plain Water, add something like Mio or Crystal Light. Try G2 or Powerade Zero. Get some sugar free popsicles and suck on those. Whatever it takes, just keep trying. If you have tried all of this and really physically can't get in more liquids, get in touch with your surgeon's office, they need to know if you are having that much trouble with drinking, so they can make sure you don't get dehydrated.

I'm having to same issues. I'm 5 days out and feel like I'm constantly spitting up phlem and feeling like there something in my chest. I'm also getting hiccups which is very uncomfortable. My advice is to just keep sipping even if it's coming back up. I think swelling is part of it too, I have a dr appt today and plan on mentioning it. I hope you are improving! I will be sure to post any new info I find out today. I feel your pain tho!

Didn't get much advice other than it's normal. As long as you are getting your fluids the feeling will pass. I'm making sure I'm sipping Water throughout the day a few spoonfuls of unsweetened apple sauce has agreed with my tummy. Once the swelling goes goes down you will feel a lot better. I had a lot of issues the first few days that are finally resolving themselves. As long as each day is a little better be proud of yourself!

My surgeon told me to start taking prilosec a week pre-op and I'm still taking it 6 days post op. not sure if I have to take it for life... but I have zero heartburn.

I was told to take the acid reducers twice a day for three months minimum. Check with your doctor

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
