New and nervous

Recommended Posts

you will do great. just follow protocol and all will be fine. i had mine 19 days ago. i, too, was nervous, but it's nothing to it. i felt a little sore, but other than that i was fine. i had such great care in Mexico. i was very surprised by that. much better care than i would have gotten in the states. keep us posted and let us walk you through this. i'm so excited for you. it's better than anything you could imagine. i am never hungry at all. i have to remind myself to take in some fuel. it's a wonderful thing. good luck.

Yes very normal, your stomach is swollen from surgery so you can only intake a little. It will get better day by day.Everyone is different, I believe 5 or 6 days after I felt I could eat anything lol

Day 2 post opp, ouch! Needs some words of strength and wisdom.

Congrats on your surgery!! It took me about 5 days to finally feel like I wasn't in pain all the time, so don't worry it gets better! A heating pad really helps with all the pain and don't forget to walk, walk, walk. It helps more than you think it would. Sipping hot liquids was also another suggestion the nurse gave me. I drank a ton of Decaf tea my first week post op!

I'm about 6 weeks post-op now and down 21 pounds. It's a great feeling! In a few weeks all the surgery pains will be a distant memory and you'll be focusing on your new healthy lifestyle instead. You're going to be amazed with yourself, I swear :)

I found what helped me a lot was reading other people's experiences. If you want to read mine, you can click on the link to my blog below. On the side of my blog you'll find links to other blogs as well. Welcome to the forum and good luck in your journey!

I don't want to discourage you but the weight really does not melt off...be realistic and Celebrate the small successes! Especially in the beginning, I retained a lot of Water it seemed like and wasn't losing but my pants sure we're falling off! I highly suggest taking full body pix, Celebrate the differences you see! I couldn't believe how happy I felt when I was 200 lbs! No one really says they'd like to be 200 lbs but it felt great! I loved how thin I looked from the old me (my high was 291). I wish you the best of luck but also look for nsv's as well (non-scale victories). I don't want to see you frustrated when the scale may stick for a week or doesn't move as much as you think it should. You can do great!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
