I also had mine the day of surgery. I wasn't allowed to wear a tampon. I also wasn't allowed to wear my own panties. They gave me a pair that were kind of gauzy and I was able to put a pad in them. When I woke up, they were both gone. There was a disposable bed pad under me an I was able to use a tampon /pad when I got out of bed.

I purposely scheduled my surgery during a time when I was pretty certain I wouldn't be on my period. Is there any chance that you can do the same? I know some places aren't that flexible with scheduling, fortunately my surgeons office was a bit flexible when I was scheduling the surgery date.

There is no way in he!! I would have been able to change a tampon after surgery. I could barely wipe! Way to painful

Same! I had to have a nurse wipe me the first time I peed! Although it was my first time out of bed and I was so drugged up I didn't even know how to live, basically. Hahaha. I found a way around it the next time, because I wasn't about to have a poor tech wipe my girly bits. Haha.

But really. There is no humility in on a hospital. None.

They will give you the sexy fishnet throw away underwear at the hospital. It's the same ones we give new moms postpartum at my job. Don't worry the nurses are use to it. We don't care. It is the glamor of our job!

My surgery is tomorrow and I had this exact same question...my husband thought I was crazy...I was like, you don't bleed like crazy down there...they are going to put a catheter in...I went as far as to call my gynecologist and ask if I could be put on a med that would take my period away for a month (I can't use tampons otherwise it wouldn't be an issue) and she did prescribe something but my surgeon flipped out on me because it increases my chance of blood clots and luckily I had only taken one. I threw them away and funny thing...my period all but done. ;)

Update....

So it decided to come the morning of the surgery..damn Aunt Flo..lol

Upon arriving to the hospital I explained my situation, the nurse simply said just get into the bed w/ undies off anyway. She did lay a chux pad down for me. Luckily it was just spotting, no heavy flow! In my opinion it seemed as though they were use to it and it wasn't the big shocker I thought it would be. My team was very professional :-) :-) :-)

Side note: I do feel that being on your cycle while your recovering from surgery definitely does add to the lethargic feeling. Once home remember your daily Vitamins and be sure you are taking vit b12..have a wonderful day ladies!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
