14 weeks pregnant 5 months post op glucose test ugh!

Recommended Posts

Anyone become pregnant early out and have a problen drinking the glucose drink? I was able to do the 4 oz for the one hour test but I failed it. So they wanted me to do a 3 hr.gtt and its 10 oz of sugary nastiness! Ive tried twice and puked both times. I actually got it all in today and had an awful reaction to all the sugar and almost fainted then projectile vomited everywhere. Now they want me to eat 56 jellybeans to take this test and im not sure my tummy can handle that either...they really arent listening to me. Im happy to be pregnant because we tried.for 3 yrs and I fell pregnant 2 months post op which wasnt my plan but I have been so ill! Im still losing quite a bit and im 88 lbs down. Anyone have a bad experience with the test?!!

That sounds horrible. I remember my glucose test many years ago, I was normal weight with a normal sized stomach and pretty healthy and it was a vomit and poop nightmare. I can't imagine how awful that is for you.

Isn't there any other way to test you? There has to be something they can do.

Yeah it made me puke and poop forgot that little bit I was at the hospital and almost didnt make it! Ive asked and told and they still want me to try...ill try their way one more time but ill refuse the test and just have them send me home after the 3rd try....it.was the most awful thing ive ever experienced!

Don't do the test! It's not accurate for post op... ask your doc about just doing accu checks for a week and recording your Levels...

Ive been trying but since I havent been able to do the test they cancel my appts and I havent gotten to speak to him. I have even emailed him. I use indian health services its like they arent paying attention. I may call my surgeon and see if they can suggest something different to my obgyn.

Im tempted, I do have private ins but my indian health covers what insurance doesnt cover. I called my post op doctor to see if he can contact my obgyn and we can just do the accu checks. Im only 5 months post op there is no way I can physically eat jelly beans!

I was 3 weeks post op when we got pregnant. I did the accu checks for a week. This doc you have now needs to either be willing to learn that our bodies are different and we require different care or you need someone else. :-( it sucks I know but your doctor works for you not the other way around. I have 7 weeks till baby and everything is going perfectly and we did did the accu checks. You just test your sugar 4 times a day.

As an RN in a play with high risk pregnancy you don't have to do the test if you don't want to! If you failed the 1 hour then you should treat this like you have gestational diabetes. You need to watch the carbs and take your finger stick. They can do a1c hemoglobin to follow you. If they say they can't you need a new md.

I switched and have been doing.finger sticks for week. My sugar stays in the 80s 2 hrs after eating and is around 78 in the mornings. My new.dr is just treating me like I have it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
