March 2014 Sleevers

Recommended Posts

My husband and I had our surgery 3/14...I too, sadly, seem to be able to eat anything...I have lost 25 lbs total but 10 was prior to surgery...I was hoping the weight would be falling off like it was with the pre-op diet but it's not...week 2-3 did not lose anything...a bit of a bummer but slow and steady wins the race, so I've been told. How have you been doing?

I think it's great that you and your husband did it together. That's awesome to have someone to go through this with who can completely related. I have a friend who had Lapband a couple of years ago, and had been super supportive and informative!

I am doing well, but I really have to work on my will power, because this weekend I have not been focused at all, and am constantly cramming things into my pouch lol. I think when I'm back to work Monday it will be better though, because I'm too busy to be greedy.

I had my surgery 3/21 and as of 4/7 I was down 28 lbs including pre-surgery diet. I am only weighing myself on Monday, so we'll see tomorrow if I hit a stall. I know I already feel better and can move better, so I'm do happy. Not worried about a stall because I know it will eventually come off, and I can't wait to throw on some spring/summer dresses!

uh-no... I could not take it, the family was cooking on the grill. I did it. I had an entire brat sausage link. I ate it slow, and chewed chewed chewed. I am really really FULL. I feel so quilty. My surgery was only on 3/20. This was about 15 min. ago, so far so good. But I am not going to do that again. I see the doc on Friday for my 2nd post op, and was hoping for stage 3. This was way too much.. fingers crossed.

Good luck Maggie!

I had a very low energy day today. Spent a lot of time in bed and napping. I just don't get how some people are back to normal and I'm still dragging.

What stage are you in? That's a little heavy for only being sleeved on 3/20. My stomach hurts just thinking about eating something like that lol. Well good luck either way. Temptation is hard, but I would think it would be best to try and nip it in the bud in the beginning.

I started my blog 5 years ago when I had LapBand surgery, it was & continues to be a great support system for me . When I need inspiration to keep going it helps to review where my road has taken me. You will be glad you did it?

I'm beginning to think I need to quit reading some of these posts. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago today. I've only lost 7 lbs since surgery, the rest was pre-op. I had trouble with liquids and just this week tried yogurt and cottage cheese. I have to say, I am really glad you all are losing weight but it depresses the hell out of me. :(

I don't know what to say except that every journey will be different. Also, liquids are very important to losing, keeping trying to get your liquids in. This is YOUR journey.

Before I had the surgery I read a lot of old posts, and soooo many people said they regretted having the surgery. But, when you look at their later posts they say it's the best decision they ever made. Sorry you're having such a hard time :-( just try to remember that is temporary, and eventually you'll forget this time ever existed :-) (especially wily you're out shopping for new clothes!). Everyone one is healing at a different rate, and before you know it, other people will be wishing they are where you are.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
