Pain where chest meets tummy?

Recommended Posts

I am 6 days post-op and really feeling pretty good. My only pain that I feel all day long is kind of an aching/burning inside, right where my chest meets my tummy. About two inches below the middle of breasts.

Anyone else have this? Is it something to worry about? I don't think it's gas... I've dealt with a lot of that, but it's getting better and feels totally different.

I am 2 weeks post op and experience the same. I also had a hernia repair and I think it is the swelling.

Did you have a hiatal hernia repair too withyour vsg?

I did, and remember a similar feeling that I would describe as pressure or painful tightness below ny sternum. It was just normal healing and I am 6 weeks post op no complications. I had that pain for the first week post op and on and off in the second week. If it is really more pain than pressure/discomfort (or accompanied by any other symptoms), definitely call your surgeon. But as you have described it, I think its fine and I remember something similar.

I agree with the above post. Also, make sure you are not eating or drinking to much or to fast. It could also be acid that early out so make sure you're still taking the blocker.

Are you taking something like Prilosec? The acid reducers really help.

I have it. I'm 5 days post op. Feels like pressure under my diaphragm. So etimes I think it's from drinking too big of sips or too fast. But it's not like reflux. Just pressure. Sometimes it relieves with burping. I'm still burping but nothing like the gas of the first few days.

Sounds normal. I know it's really hard but try to slow it down.

I get it also and I'm nine days post op. Saw my PA today for my post surgery follow up and she said it's normal 'growing pains'but to drink slower so the pressure doesn't build up too often

I am three months post op and I remember the pain. I had a hernia repair and my dr said it was the swelling, and they probably bruised my ribs. It hurt for about 2 months. I was seriously scared that it wouldn't go away. It did not away... thank God! Be encouraged. This is surgery is a blessing. I could not be more happy with the results... lost 40lbs as of yesterday.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
