I got a little discouraged this morning...

Yesterday I got down my summer clothes from last year... and this morning I had a chance to try them on... they just fit... I thought they would have been big on me by now. I know I'm only beginning this journey, but for whatever reason...that really got me down today.

At LEAST you were ABLE to get into them! That means by the time it gets really hot, you will be tooo!!! Hang in there, you are doing great.:clap2:

SillyWillyMommy:Thanks for the Mom encouragement. I have 3 sons with Aspergers Syndrome a very confusing disability. Learning for my kids takes 10X longer than those without the disorder. Let me illustrate: most Moms just say...... go brush your teeth. For me it would be 1. go to the bathroom 2. turn on the light 3. get your toothbrush 4. turn on the Water 5. wet your toothbrush 6. turn off the water 7. brush your teeth top and bottom. 8 turn on the water 9 rinse your mouth 10 rinse your toothbrush 11 turn off the water 12 put away your toothbrush 13 turn out the light 14 come back here. My situation is overwhelming at times. But I want to tell you that I have GREAT kids and every year we learn to overcome some major difficulites and rejoice in our accomplishments. Last year we took our first ever VACATION and I don't have the words to explain how wonderful that was!

Mischievous1: Muhammed Ali has several daughters. The gal on Dancing with the Stars is his youngest Laila. The gal who wrote this book is a bit older and WOW she had done great with the band. Makes me be a proud owner of one! I hope that helps.

Thanks yeah that helps and now I do remember her name was Laila...duh...wow you have amazing patience with your boys I applaud you for being such a great and loving mom...:clap2:

I just wanted to clarify that I think your confusing centimeters with cc's or ml's. The size of the band is 10 cm not 10ccs . I received my card after the surgery.

Laurie

Nope, I'm not confusing them at all. I refered to a 10cc band (which is a Vanguard Band or VG) just as an example. Here's the list of bands (currently released in the US-not including the AP band that will be released next month) made by Allergan:

  • 9.75 cm (4 cc capacity)
  • 10 cm (4cc capacity)
  • 11 cm (9cc capacity)
  • Vanguard (10cc)

ontheway: the barium exiting your system can be pretty...errr...interesting.

I didn't have barium, but some other very nasty stuff that was clear and bitter. But whatever the cause, I'm looking forward to it calming down.

I'm so looking forward to new clothes down the road some! Actually, I'm just looking forward to my closet full of clothes that I haven't been able to wear for many years now. I have every size availableI believe thanks to my yo-yo dieting for 20 years. And my unwillingness to just get rid of them.....

ontheway, I totally hear ya! I could open a clothing store with the stuff in my garage. I have boxes lined up labeled from size 9 to 22. I've saved it over the years thinking that "one of these days I'll be able to get into them". Yeah, now that I think about it, I'm sure most of it would not be in style, considering they range from 1989-present. LOL!

Okay, if I have to drink another Protein Shake or broth, I will vomit! Someone brought over fresh grilled hamburgers for my family to eat. Yummy, I seriously thought about throwing one of those bad boys in the blender. Today is day 7 post op, get a little angry about food. I went and bought some light grape juice to have with crushed ice as my treat. My how times have changed! I feel good-recovery wise. Just getting a bit "crabcake" like!

I totally hear you about the clothes. I have tons of them in all sizes down to a 16. That should last a while. My town also has a plus size resale shop. They hardly give you anything for your clothes, but they have some good buys. I tried on my 24's and apparantly they were way tighter than I remember because they still fit and I have lost 20lbs. since the beginning of the month. How long do you guys think the stomach will be swollen after surgery? Or should that be gone by now?

Tomorrow morning is my follow-up appointment with my Dr. It will be 10 days since surgery and I haven't weighed since they checked me into the hospital on the 14th. I'm excited to find out how much I've lost, but I'm not expecting any outrageous change. I don't want to be disappointed. Anyway, tomorrow afternoon I'll be back here to change my ticker. Wish me luck! :-)

As always, I'll be thinking good thoughts for those who were recently banded and who will be banded shortly. *hugs*

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
