Has anyone had esophageal spasms. Doc prescribed meds for it but doesn't help. Drinking just aggravates it. Hard yo stay hydrated. No food yet. Too painful. Anyone have any experience with this?

Can you describe them? I have something that I would call a half of a hiccup. Not a hiccup at all, not a burp, but a feeling that it could really hurt if it was a full ...half. I don't need meds for them, and only have them if I try to drink too many sips of Water or liquids. I'm on pureed foods now and am trying not to overfill my smaller tummy.

It's a painful stabbing pain behind my sternum and between my shoulder blades. Makes swallowing anything difficult and painful. Only 5 days after surgry and I hope it ends soon. Overall though... Best decision I ever made

I didn't have anything like that. It almost sounds like gas from the operation got stuck up there with nowhere to go, but I'm sure your doc has thought about that. Wouldn't want to second guess him or her. I got lucky, mine was relatively painless, no gas pains or anything. Some of my incisions were sore for about a week, but that was it.

I had surgery Monday and I am having spasms. I am waiting for them to go away. Drinking warm things is better than cold at least for me.

Thanks. I'll try that. Doc said it could last a month and prescribed something but it's not working. Still, no regrets. Best decision I've ever made!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
