Is anyone else having food nightmares? I dreamt that my niece who is a chef made prime rib and gave me a plate and I ate half of it before I realized OMG I can't eat this I just had surgery and now I really messed things up... I can get a blockage, tear... Then wait till I woke myself up from worrying to relief it was only a dream... To face my dream I cooked steak dinner for my Family then I was ok.

I dream that I'm in bakeries buying sweets to gorge on.

Now that is a nightmare for sure.

Sugary things for gastric bypass people can make them sick and can give them dumping affect so no thank you to that.

Let these activities stay in my dreams where they do no harm.

Oh this is good! I had a nightmare recently where I dreamed I ate three slices of sicilian pizza...you know, the real thick breaded pizza...not even the thin crust kind. When I realized it was just a dream, I was so relieved...lol.

I dreamed about greasy fried chicken breast crust. It was Hardee's chicken. I knew that I had my surgery in my dream, but I didn't care lol.

I don't know why I dreamed about it, I wasn't craving it. But it tasted pretty good in my dream lol.

Early after my surgery I had a dream where I ate a huge hot fudge sundae and then suddenly remembered I'd had surgery. I woke up and was so relieved I hadn't done it!

I had surgery Wednesday. My first night home I dreamt I ate a giant cinnamon roll that burst open my sleeve. I woke up in a hot sweat totally panicied. When I went back to sleep. I had dreams about puppies and kittens not getting enough milk and starving. It was horrible. So yes, I have nightmares about food. Lol. I also just dream about food - if I fall asleep watching tv and here food commericals, I eat in my dream. Today was pizza. I'm 4 days post-op - I hope this eventually mellows out. I had majotr head hunger today. There's no way I really WANTED to eat or COULD eat, but my mind sure wanted to mess with me today. Chewing a Pepcid actually helped a lot - just the act of chewing got my mind off food.

Two weeks out of surgery, I dreamt I was shopping for new clothes in a smaller size and then realized that I had downed half a bottle of diet coke while I was shopping. I was shocked when I realized what I had done.

Here I was trying to get clothes that fit the new me and drinking the forbidden at the same time!

I had really intense food dreams every night for weeks. What's worse is that I decided on becoming a vegan chef and opening a restaurant with the help of Jamie Oliver. I even purchased a book on how to do this. I was convinced of this epic reality even though I have no cooking skills. Whether awake or asleep everything was about food.

This is such an interesting topic and should really be the focus of a research study on dreams and WLS patients.

When I used to do traditional diets, (WW was my diet of choice), I'd be either On Program or Off Program, like many of us. When I was On Program, these diet-breaking dreams would happen a lot. I remember when I stayed on WW for one year without ever breaking the program rules; most nights I'd dream I'd gone over points big time: binges involving all the sweets in the world. I would dream I'd eat cakes, Cookies, candies, everything in the world. And when I woke up it was such a relief to find it was just a dream. I often wondered if it was my mind keeping me from going off program...showing me how horrible it would feel should I go off program.

Now that I'm banded, I don't have these dreams...because I'm never ON or OFF a diet. I'll have some foods that don't lead to weight loss, certainly, but with my appetite turned way down, and the band keeping my tummy satisfied, I certainly don't go off my eating plan in the way I could do when not banded. So it is interesting to me that my dreamlife reflects this and I don't have any binge dreams.

Here's what I have dreamt, however, that is kind of freaky and certainly related to having a lapband:

Before I was banded, and going through pre-op consultations, I had a very vivid dream that the band surgeon lifted my shirt to evaluate my stomach, and on my stomach was this red, rubbery growth, like a cock's comb, circling my belly button. It was horrifying!

Postop, I had another similar dream, but this time there were all these different colored, but still rubbery growths coming off of my stomach. I could pull them off, they kind of ripped off as if held on by glue, but it was disgusting and somehow (in my dream) related to my lapband.

It is interesting to me how my dream-mind has processed having this foreign object inside my body...and is expressing it with this strange dream of stuff growing on the outside of my belly.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
