That's my problem. The bike hurts my butt (I bought one a while back. It is now a clothes hanger.:smile2:) I could never afford a treadmill. The places to walk near my house have too many dogs. I would love to do Water aerobics or even swimming everyday, but alas, no pool. My neighbor has a pool, do you think they would let me swim? ha ha. I doubt it. They moved in about a month ago, and I still haven't met them or seen for sure who all lives there. I did see that they had a new liner put into the pool. It looks so inviting with the ball floating on top of the water. Ok, envy over. I am sure that the cost of upkeep on that thing is not pretty.

I will find some exercise that I like to do.

I hope that you all have a wonderful holiday weekend!

rowed again today. found music is better for my concentration than tv. made a playlist and everything.

i can relate to the pool envy . i can see my neighbors pool from my bedroom window. i dont know them either. I often think they dont use that thing enough. i bet it was expensive too.

i hope you all have a good weekend too.

thanks. are your teeth feeling better? i hope so.

Not yet, but hopefully soon. Well, I guess they do feel some better because they aren't aching just sitting here. Now it only hurts when I eat. I have to admit that my cheek is raw though. They put a new appliance on the back teeth to turn them, but the piece that they put in is rubbing my cheek raw. I finally broke down and put the wax around those teeth. That made it feel much better. Everyday I question my decision to get these things put in.

My weight is finally moving again. It is moving slowly, but it is moving. I am excited about that. I finally got below 180 last week. Of course, after the awful way that I ate yesterday, I am back to 181 this morning. Such is the story of my life. ha ha.

How is everyone doing? Has anyone heard from Carrie in a while? I don't think I have seen any posts from her recently.

I am here. I started nursing school last week so I have been really busy. My weight loss has stalled. I really need some motivation.

Hi Carrie, Where are you in school? I finished in Aug. 2007. It is a rough ride, but worth it. I got my first lap band just after finishing my first summer. I went to a summers only program where we went four months each summer for three years. It was like taking a shower with a fire hose, lol! Hang it there and if I can help, give support, pointers, advice, let me know.

Hopefully with school starting, your weight loss will kick back in. I was just concerned after not hearing from you for a little while.

Thanks, I didn't know you were a nurse. I am going to Cleveland State. I hope to finish in 2011. We start clinicals October 2. I am really nervous about that. I have been a medical assistant for years, but this is a whole different ball game. Where do you work?

Thanks. I am hoping my weight loss will start back up again. I seem to starve when I am at school. I could probably use another fill, but I really can't afford it right now.

Glad you are doing well, Carrie. I was starting to get worried about all of you. I seemed to be the only one posting for a few days. I also went to nursing school (BSN). I hope you have a good experience.

My weight loss has stalled also but I am hoping that it will pick back up after my next fill on thursday.

Does anyone here have a myspace?
I don't. I can't access it from work anyway. At least for now, I can still get on here.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
