No anti-infammitory allowed--what can i do?

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled to have surgery in 7 days. I have a pinched nerve in my shoulder. My doctor's office says all I can do is to take tYLENOL. It is not helping. I do not want to cancel my surgery but I dare not have it with the extreme pain I am having. Does anyone know of any other alternatives to deal with the pain?

I hope you find relief soon! I don't have a lot of advice except for what I read. "In order to manage acute pain, ice therapy is employed by most individuals to decrease the inflammation and swelling across the nerve. Moreover, it also numbs and temporarily anesthetizes the site of primary nerve involvement until other interventions exert their action. , It is recommended to wrap your ice pack or a bag of peas in a towel before putting it on your neck. Meanwhile it is also recommended to give optimal rest to the involved limb in order to decrease the spread of inflammation."

Try ice and rest?

RICE

Rest
Ice
Compress

Elevate

So just rest as much as you can to help it heal. Use ice for 20 minutes on 20 off. if your more than a day out 20 minutes ice then 20 minutes ice back and forth. take tylonal to help, along with the ice. When your not doing that just compress the area. and its already elevated above your heart.

thats helped me in the past even with a pinched nerve.

I would check with the dr about being put on gabapentin. It works for nerve pain. Probably won't help right away but for the long term it may. Until then, I agree that ice is the best. I have dealt with nerve pain in both legs for years so I know how you feel. :( Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
