I've read a lot of posts about people having to take 6-12 month classes before their surgery. Does everyone have to do that? Is it an insurance thing? Thanks.

It's a insurance thing that's required depending on your insurance .

It took 7 months from the time I went to the first seminar to my surgery date. It could have taken less time but my work schedule did not permit me to go any faster. I only went to one class and one support group meeting, the rest of the hoops were testing and getting various MD clearances. My insurance company approved on the first submital (it took about 3 weeks for them to approve the surgery).

I know some insurance companies want you to be one a medically supervised weight loss preogam for 6 - 12 months before they will approve surgery.

Your surgeon's office should be able to tell you the hoops you'll have go through for your whatever insurance you have.

To be honest I needed the time to get my head around the surgery and to commit to the life style change. I am so glad I did.

Good Luck

It really depends on your insurance requirements. I have a six month class I have to attend weekly, but Ive actually met a lot of people with my same insurance but just in a different county and they have the same class in only 3 months.

My insurance required weekly classes for 3 months. The time flew by and I made a couple of new friends. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
