How important is your goal weight for you?

Recommended Posts

As others have stated.. I am happy with what I've achieved.

However, the obsessive tendencies which develop through this process can become addictive in their own right.

You did something so dramatic, that anything less than perfection will not do....

Mix that with the really bloody-minded 'I have to achieve' attitude, which I tend to have...

and it results in the daily mantra; 'I have to get these last 23lbs off GODDAMNNIT!

MOVE scale, MOVE!!!!!'

Yes, I can totally relate to that, as I often obsess with things that are super important to me.

I read a very interesting comment here, I do not remember the topic or the user, but she said that she is "playing" this weird game where she tries to take in all her Protein needs but with the least calories possible, every day little bit less and less and working out more and more, and I have found it very interesting. I mean after long years of abuse and really not careing about our bodies suddenly it becomes our first priority...fascinating ...

That sounds like swapping one obsession for another.. Not a bad obsession to have, in fairness. As long as its not the other end of the pendulum. Obesity and Anorexia. Two sides of the same coin.

My surgeon did not specify a goal weight. My one year appt is coming up soon and I am down about 108 from his scale. I am BMI of 28.9 at 201 lbs. my next goal is to finally get to 190s and I picked 187 as my goal. I did this because 173 would be BMI of 24.9 for me at 5-10. But I had 4 huge babies and drooping as and age so I gave myself some leeway. I also figure 187 gives me a big buffer under 200. I almost don't wNt to ask the doctor for a goal weight cause he my pick like 160 or something and that would be depressing! I also am working out and trying to get my fat percentage under 30% for my age under that is acceptable. Good thing about when I turn 50 it will go up to 31% as acceptable. That number is more important than weight or BMI. Last measurement it was 36% but I have lost a size since then if only 5 lbs. so I am looking forward to my next fat percentage measurement in about 6 weeks.

we are practically the same. I am 5ft 10 and stuck weight wise. Are you, too, finding you're stalling at the moment? I keep bouncing between 197-199 and this has been the case for about 6 weeks.

I have slowed down to a crawl since starting to work out the past 6 weeks. Before that I went down and up and down since thanksgiving so I guess I still averaged 1 pound a week since then but since working out it is highly variable. I was in Onederland for about 2 seconds till going back up. I think 0.5 a week will be the new normal. And that is if I am lucky enough to get to the 180s. But as I said my goal is fat percentage now < 30% and whoever that puts me.

Did you say what your goal is? On this iPad I can't see your previous post when I type! I feel kinda bad that would need to lose 30lbs to have normal BMI. That's why I hate BMI. I will just watch the fat percentage. Maybe I'll still need to lose 30lbs but at least I know and accept that fat% can take a while to change at this later stage.

I want to weigh 125. Even if it's just for a moment. There's no real particular reason, but I do know my body is capable of that size. I'm 5'3.

I, too, hit onederland for 5 minutes. For some reason, that benchmark is a bloomin' hard one to go past.

My goal is 175 to be 'normal' (20lbs to lose for BMI 24.8) , I'd have to lose another 13.5lbs on top of that to get to BMI 23.5. My current fat percentage at BMI 28.3 is 38.12%. It is depressing. For my prides sake though, I do want a normal BMI for the first time, in like, ever...

I think this is going to be a long hard slog.. And there was my nutritionist telling me I'd lose more quickly, because I was taller.

Bunkem!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
