Hi! I was seeing a doctor here in the states about getting the gastric sleeve done until we discovered my insurance company will only pay for the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass and I do not want that. So I am going to a doctor in Mexico because that's who my aunt went to. Anyway, his pre-op diet for me is just 5 days of liquids. With the doctor here, it was 2 or 3 days of liquid right before surgery (can't remember which off the top of my head, but I'll look it up), but starting two weeks before that it was Protein Shakes two or three times a day and a high protein/non-starchy vegetable dinner.< br />
So my question is, would it be bad for me to follow the diet I was given by the doctor here? It seems to me it should work.

My doc said two weeks of just Protein shakes and Clear Liquids prior to surgery. They said the point of this is to shrink your liver by decreasing glycogen stores, so yes, I'd say it's not a bad idea to follow the original doctor's plan. The smaller your liver is, the less time your surgery will take, and the less chance of complications while you are on the table.

My doc did not need me to follow the liver shrinking preop diet but I did anyway. Eating healthy can't be bad!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
