I'm officially 5 weeks post op. I've lost 26 lbs and have been feeling pretty good. The past two days though have been tough. All I want to do is eat. I know it's my head talking not my stomach but these past two nights I have not been able to shut my head up and it has been winning over my stomach. In fact here I sit in the middle of the night writing this after I just had to throw away some food that I wanted to desperately eat but knew I shouldn't because I don't want to go back to eating in the middle of the night. I've been doing so well and I don't understand. I know the rankings of a lunatic. I just don't want to feel that I am all alone on this one. Am I?

Hi! I am starting my 5 weeks today and no your not alone! While I was a night eater I just told my husband it feels so good to sleep all night long abs bit wake up hungry! I have lost my hunger pains... Do you have them? If boy it's your head it helps to go to bed early and get a full nights sleep being 5 weeks out I have splurged some but complete different portions than before what are you eating now? Are you getting your Protein? With protein you should be getting full!

I've been doing well in getting a lot of my Protein in. And I was actually doing well at not feeling hungry at night after dinner. It's just been these past few nights where I've struggled. It could just be a phase. I haven't been sleeping as well either these past few nights. I think I'm a bit concerned because night time eating was one of my issues and it's been going so well until these past few days . Do t want to have gone through all of this to have it be like before if that makes sense.

You are not alone. Its times like these that make me the most thankful for my sleeve. I have noticed a change (mentally) since my surgery but I am reminded every now and again that I am not over my food addiction. I can count at least 5 times since I had surgery that if I didnt have the surgery I would of binged ate all of my weight lost back. Its important to use this time when we cant eat like we would like too in order to fix are food issues. Again-you are not alone

I'm 2 months out. At weeks 5-6 I noticed my appetite came back, before that I had none. It made me panic for a minute but then I realized it was just part of the healing process. About that time I had a latte with some Syrup in it (intentionally because I was feeling bad). That syrup gave me carb cravings for 3 days after! Now I notice that sometimes I just have "hungry" days where I get hungry every 3 hours or so and have to put something in the tank. I did feel like my capacity increased slightly at weeks 5-6 so perhaps it is normal.

For me when that happen in the begining it was my stomach making acid so once the meds got in I didnt feel the hunger any longer..still today if im stress and my stomah makes more acid I feel it again and I was sleeved 6/18/13

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
