Yay SuberFab!! So happy to hear you're ok. I've had surgery quite a few times and those first hours after are pretty rough. I'm sure after another day you'll be feeling do much better. I hope your friend is doing better. Keeps us posted on your progress. I'm so happy for you that this part is over and the good stuff is still to come! Watch that fever and get lots of rest!! YOU DID IT!!!!

Thank you!! I'm ok right now. Just relaxing and listening to my new yummy gurgle as I chew ice. There is a special area dedicated at Norman Regional Hospital to bariatric patients and they are such great staff. I've never had nurses so on the ball. I'm glad I chose to have my surgery here. I figured out that some liquids just make me nauseated do am sticking with ice for now. The gas pain us very bad Bc of referral pain. When gas pushes against your diaphragm, since the diaphragm itself doesn't register pain, it refers that pain into your left shoulder. I'm getting up and down out of bed on my own and walk when I feel up to it. All on all, even after the dry heaving this morning, today is a better day.

Thanks and I feel sleeved for sure. Lol. The pain was really horrible, but it got under control. Today is day 2 and I'm only taking liquid acetaminophen in my IV.

I was told for abdominal cavity gas only walking helps. It's pretty painful. I haven't had much intestinal gas. But I do burp a lot more. Lol

Back home - one night stay - all went well, EXCEPT .......

..... Throat where they insert a breathing tube or something that made me more uncomfortable than anything else. So much so that I got no sleep the night I was in the hospital. The throat problem made my Cpap machine not work ... Throat would close as I exhaled. Primary problem was caused due to fact I couldn't sleep on my side level!

At home now so all things are well. Slept 11 hours last night. Throat much better. No problem with surgery, etc. now the journey starts trying to get in my liquids.

Only downside so far is I have to deal with drain 'till Monday but that won't be a problem.

Edit - OH ..... I forgot ... Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I don't mind saying that having this done at age 72 was scary!!

I'm new to the bariatric pal app. I'm also just starting my sleeve journey. My insurance (CIGNA PPO) said that I have to do 6 months nutrition/dietician before I get a surgery date. The doctor has placed me on a pre op diet stating that I have to lose 2 lbs a week for six months???? did anyone else have this problem? Pre op weight is 221 and 5'0 tall

Wow! That's a lit if weight to lose before surgery. My original requirements were 6 mos of nutrition appts, plus 20 pounds weight loss before surgery. Then after 3 mos and 0 lbs weight loss the hospital called to schedule my surgery because my insurance approval came in.

I've seen some other people on this site that have had similar experiences. So hang in there and do the best you can.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
