Abdominal pain and excessive gas

Recommended Posts

After being banded seven years I started getting a lot of gas pains and bloating. I started writing down what I was eating and noticed every time I had milk products the gas would start. I beginning to wonder if I'm lactose intolerant. I have never been before but even eating ice cream gave me bad cramps. Just a thought.

It does sound like you have developed a sensitivity to dairy. I wouldn't know if you're lactose intolerant but my sister in law was she could not eat dairy of any kind including pizza which she once loved.

I would say stay off the dairy if it makes you feel better but definitely check with your doctor because only your doctor can give you the best advice.

Thank goodness for this forum!!! I was banded in late February 2015 after my last fill a few weeks ago I am struggling with the pain upper left abdominal area. To the extent from sitting too long and getting up I feel the muscles pulling, laying to sleep on my side it is nearly impossible do to the feeling of excessive pulling of the muscles... Feeling a bit frustrated at this point... Any suggestions out there would be greatful!

Google pain in the upper left side of body and you'll find that it may be pancreatitis? Don't know if it's related to the fill but could be just a coincidence? Make a visit to your PCP asap?

I came on here because I've been banded for 4 years and I'm just now having pain. It's esophageal, more upper left I guess than just center. It feels like gas, reflux, I don't know what! I thought maybe I had a partial block because I had a bad "episode" about a month ago. This has been going on ever since. I thought I had pneumonia and went to the dr! I'm starting Prilosec in case I have irritation. I never thought about gallbladder and such. What do you all recommend for clearing a partial blockage? I'm 76 lbs down and I want to do 50 more.

Your esophagus goes directly down the middle but your stomach does wander to the left. What do you mean a partial blockage?

I've never heard of anyone with a partial stuck episode? You're either stuck or not stuck and most all stuck episodes go away in less than an hour. Is the pain near your sternum/diaphragm area or under your breast? Not that anyone here can diagnose your concern? Better see a doctor? If you've got a stomach ulcer you could have some band erosion which is very serious. Or, your stomach has prolapsed through the band and is like a balloon near your left lung? Only a Dr could know?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
