oh my achin' sleeve!

Recommended Posts

Strange issue. Last night I had a simple Greek salad. I didn't break any rules. But I got indigestion so bad that it took 8 tums and three ginger chunks to put the fire out! I have had this issue before and have prilosec which I, too often, forget to take. When I woke up today my sleeve actually felt sore. I'm 6 months out with no other issues. I'm curious if anyone else has had a "sore" sleeve?

Ive had a sore sleeve many times... especially around the early part, up until about 8 months out. I just put it down to it healing. Interesting that you took some ginger chunks - is that like real pieces of ginger?

I've had the sore sleeve as well! Not so much in the last year, but during the first year or so it happened. I also have bad indigestion and, like you, forget to take my medicine! I'm interested in the ginger chunks as well! Information on that would be awesome!

Sometimes veggies (especially romaine) are too fibrous to be digested well. I know that is true with those who suffer from IBS. Have you eaten salads successfully before this?

I am also 6 months out and if I eat something that bothers me I feel it the next day. Sore is a good way to describe it. Funny thing is, sometimes it's something I've been eating all along.

Hi all. My boyfriend cuts ginger root up and dries it. You can also get something similar at trader joes. It does help and has less carbs than tums. I've had salads before but not often. Broccoli Rabe had the same effect. But if I don't take the prilosec indigestion happens to some extent no matter what I eat. But only once in a while it becomes an 8 tum, ginger chunk, sleep sitting up kinda thing. Good to hear others have experienced the "soreness" and all turned out Ok. I've never "felt" my stomach before this surgery.

I agree that I was pretty oblivious to anything going on in my tummy before. I am about 11 wks post op and can feel my stomach at times. If I eat too fast I get sick. I do actually sense hunger a little now...but I do OCC get some pain in my tummy but cannot figure out why. Sometimes I try to eat too much or too fast. I def get pain from drinking too fast.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
