How much did your surgery cost?

Recommended Posts

I had mine done here in Australia. It was free for me. Well $3,000 upfront but then was totally refunded. I feel blessed.

I paid $4,500 for my surgery in Tijuana, plus an additional $500 for airfare for myself and my support person. We drank lots of Water in Mexico... bottled water.

I just did my taxes and did the math for my surgery - everything (except shakes and vitamins) cost $2800 out of pocket - insurance covered all the rest. Not too bad for the best decision I've ever made!

Unless things changed from 5 years ago we were told people from America don't drink the Water but people born their were used to it and could...I have no idea we drank bottle Water

I paid 25,000 out of pocket for the surgery without insurance. My insurance covered all of the testing from other doctors, but my co pays added another few hundred onto the bill.

Mine was 16,000 out of pocket. I was going to go to Mexico, but my parents were too nervous, so they helped me with the difference in cost. It was really nice not to have to Tavel right after surgery and to have the follow up care here.

I got my EOB today for my surgery that I had in December and the insurance company paid just over $15,000 for everything (my surgery, the hospital stay etc...) and if I didn't have insurance it would have cost me over $18,000. How much did I pay of the $15,000? well prior to my surgery I had already met my out of pocket max for the year so it cost me $0!! Was your surgery covered? or was it all out of pocket? how much was your insurance company charged for the surgery (if your insurance covered the surgery)?

My insurance excludes wls, therefore I went to Tijuana and paid $4400. Plus $266 airfare.

I couldn't have had a better experience.

I have a $20 copayment so with all the pre-op appointments, I probably spent $200. My surgical deductible is $1,000. So about $1,200.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
