My husband is two weeks post op and currently on the clear liquid diet, moving on to full liquids. He has been having an extremely hard time with getting Protein in.

We've been looking into alternatives and found protein pills. I understand he is not to have pills but can have chewable. I'm wondering if anyone has had success with any sort of chewable protein pills in this stage of the game.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Try pure whey Liquid Protein shots. Only 3oz and 45g of Protein. VERY tart but quick and easy way to get in protein!

Is he using Protein Shakes? That is the best way to get the right Protein after surgery. I was told specifically to not use the protein gel shots. They use a different kind of protein that doesn't absorb the same. Also your body can't absorb more than 30g of protein at one time, so any more doesn't really count toward totals for the day. I was told to only use supplements that are protein isolate.

I'm 7 weeks out and was worried about the same thing. Nut, surgeon, and surgeons nurse all said the same thing. The most important thing the first few weeks is to get fluids in. At this stage i'm still struggling to get 80g of Protein per day. But now i'm going to go look up this Protein shot in the previous post.

With the full liquid diet you can add non-flavored Protein powder to things to boost your intake. Our dietitian suggested adding it to Soups and broths. She warned against adding it to Protein shakes, it doesn't dissolve well, but any other liquid is fine.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
