Anyone ever try lexapro

Recommended Posts

Do you all get your Rx from general practitioner/PCP or do you see a Psychologist/Psychiatrist?

I have a great PCP and I want to ask to start antidep. but I don't know how to bring it up.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I went to my family practitioner complaining of mood swings and irritability...thinking I needed Paxil. But she recommended Lexapro after asking more questions and talking about my family history a bit more. As I said, it has really done the trick for me!

Schexy,

Doctors really appreciate straight talk. Something like, "you know Doc. I've not been feeling like myself for a while and think I'm depressed. Could we talk about this?"

This gives the doctor a place to start the conversation and then he/she will probably ask you a series of questions designed to give an overall impression of your emotional mood level.

Good luck and let us know what the doc says.

Lexapro saved my life.. seriously.. I feel so much better on it.. sometimes I have mine paired with wellbutrin in the wintertime cuz I can suffer from seasonal depression and that helps but wellbutrin can also make you gain weight. I didn't take it this winter and Lexapro was enough.

I had no side effects at all.. Love the stuff!

Well went to the docs and he wouldn't put me on lexapro. He said he presribes it alot but its not for me. He also said it slows down your metabolism and with my eating disorder well thats not that great for me. So anyhow he put me on prozac 20mg to start. He said zoloft 50mg was doing nothin but I refused to take anymore of it and so i would take was 50mg. He told me I need to surrendar and face the fact I can not be in comtrol to giv eit up. He was a bit harsh but with the events that happened to me over the weekend I don't deserve anyone to be too nice. So lets see if this works hopefully I will notice it soon.

Oh yeah the pschiatrist put me on 50mg zoloft years ago then I stopped going to him and my pcp continued my prescription and said only if I had problems I should see him again so thats what I did and now my case it back open.

I take 20 mg Lexapro and 300 mg Wellbutrin daily...seems to work for me. When I was banded they had to switch my 300 mg wellbutrin tab for 2 150 mg ones because the lower dose was smaller. I feel like the combination of the two meds has given me back myself.

I was on lexapro a couple of years ago. I struggle with sleep issues, and most of these types of meds have side effects of either making you tired or making you not tired. It had the "make me not tired" effect on me. No matter what time of day I took it, I had terrible insomnia at night.

I am currently on prozac, and so far so good. Lexapro is a very good medication, it is just me that it didn't work so good on.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
