Does the gas x stuff help with the surgical gas?

No, my surgeon said only walking will help with that. Gas x will help with stomach and intestinal gas though.

This is all great info! I have my EKG in 2 weeks and that will be my last prop before they submit everything to my insurance. I have Blue Shield NetValue so it should go fairly quick. I'm hoping for the first week in April.

Good luck to everyone! I'm starting my 2week liquid only diet Tuesday and I'm nervous about the headaches and "mourning of food". Thanks for starting this thread! Sending get well wishes to those who are recovering.

Hey Jerziegirl! I'm 2 days post op now and still having a lot of pain and discomfort. My headaches have finally stopped and there's not much about food I'm missing right now. Haven't really been hungry. If you're a big coffee drinker like I was I highly recommend you start weening yourself off now. Don't wait until the last day of your preop diet like I did!! Where in NJ are you from and who are you having surgery done through?

Does the gas x stuff help with the surgical gas?

yes my doctor suggested to stock up on it. So yes.

I didn't seem to have any gas pains. I am experiencing a pretty good recovery.

A kind surgeon will try and decompress your abdomen as much as possible b4 closing you up. I had no problem with gas but I also took GasX to be proactive in case it crept up on me.

It's upper gas. My husband is going to the store to find me gas x strips. Ugh it's all in my back and hurts so bad

I had a feeling like I needed to belch every time I tried to sip on anything while in hospital, that continued after a got home a couple days... it improved. I was like a trapped burp more annoying than painful. Try and move about your house a bit if you are up to it. Did your hubby get the GasX... if so, did it help? How you feeling today?

I'm feeling a little better today. I still hurt tho, I feel it more deeply in my stomach today. He couldn't find the gas x last night so he's going to the pharmacy today. I get a really bad cramp in my stomach whenever I drink things. Idk if its that I'm taking too much or what. I've been coughing to clear my lungs so I don't get pneumonia and oh my gosh it hurts BAD! My neck shoulders and back are very stiff from only being able to sleep in a recliner position. I can't do Protein Drinks or anything like that. I have had like 1 cup of broth over the last 2 days. Mainly trying to just drink Water cuz my mouth and stuff feels so dry. I have lots of grumbles in my stomach but idk if its gas or hunger.

I'm from Toms River and having my surgery in Philly. I was considering NJ but most docs wouldn't remove the band, repair my hernia and do the sleeve in the same procedure so I went to Jefferson.

Glad you're feeling a little better today. I have all the same feelings going on that you do. The pains deep in my stomach are so weird. I get such a bad gas bubble whenever I drink anything but I'm forcing myself anyway. Hope it gets better for you throughout the day! Keep us posted

Hmm... I specifically asked my surgeon this and he said gas x will help with stomach and intestinal gas. Like when they put gas in your new tummy to make sure their are no leaks, but not the gas they use to inflate your body cavity so they can see. That it dissipates on it's own and movement like walking is the only thing that speeds it up. She said she tries to remove as much as possible though.

Ok so when I checked in at the hospital, they did not seem to even compare my last doc apt weigh in to my present weight. I worried for nothing. So, surgery is over. I am on day 2 pot op. I'm not very hungry at all and I am focusing on hydrating (Gatorade and water) and getting Protein into everything I eat. I have not lost any weight, but that is ok. I know I have begun an exciting journey and so have YOU!

I look forward to shopping for clothes and ENJOYING IT! That will be a first in my life. I always hated shopping!

Hey girl I just wanted to see how u are doing and feeling.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
