I would like to say this, people always have something to say negative or positive, but this is your life and nobody should change your mind if you think it's the right thing for you, no wife, husband, mother, father etc. me I told some people and got mixed reactions but did I care Hell no when the same negative MF saw how well I was doing they did a 360 turn and the ones who were over weight is not talking about getting the surgery? And people will always talk? Remember they talked about Jesus ?

I am heading on the plane now for surgery tomorrow. I have shared this with my parents, husband and sibling. I was really upset to find out today that all my friends have known for the past 2 weeks. My husband told a friend, the friend told his wife and it went from there. I am hurt by 2 things. My husband blabbing something that wasn't his news to share, and my friends for not saying anything the last two weeks. Not the way I anticipated this all rolling out. Feeling shitty about it all. Damit!!!

That just sucks. My husband told my 86 year old mother in law who has dementia (mild). She's not a nice person to begin with - a true small town gossip. She calls everyone she knows and talks and talks about everyone (not remembering the multiple times she's told the same story). I was so pissed at my husband. I can relate to your hurt. But this is about you and your health. To hell with the gossips! Be strong. You got this. Best wishes for an uneventful and speedy recovery.

And what gets me is those who will sit and watch and WAIT for failure so they can pity you. I realize there are far more out there who love me and want me to succeed but the few who don't "get it" and who enjoy suffering, they make it hard. I don't have many of those in my immediate circle but enough acquaintances that fall into that category. My blood is kinda boiling now for you but DC is right. They talked trash about Jesus too. Be strong and have faith in yourself. (I'm all fired up now! Lol)

Oh, what a great discussion this has turned out to be! I love all the replies!

I think that once I get an actual surgery date, THEN I'll be more willing to tell people. Right now, even though I've checked to make sure my insurance covers it, and have gone to 3 official weigh-ins, I just feel like I'll be "jinxing" myself if I say too much to too many people. But once I get the date, I'll tell my boss, and possible 2 or 3 others that are close to me. Other than that, people can just watch me shrink and wonder how I did it :D

I told my 31 year old son yesterday.... and he is being supportive! He said" As long as it makes you happy, mom." He knows how I've been struggling; his wife is also overweight and has tried numerous diets.

OMG... I have been telling everyone. Only person I refuse to tell is my mom. She wouldn't understand and it will only infuriate her and I don't need her two cents. Most ppl have been super encouraging. I am the type of person who doesn't really care what others think.

Your very pretty

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
