Hello everyone.....I am new to post here. Have been reading LOTS on this site for a couple days now. I am looking to get banded. :) I have had my first appointment with my surgeon in Sioux Falls, SD--anyone ever been banded there? I am seeing Dr Thaemert. I have my appointment with the dietician and behavioral specialist on April 11th. I weigh about 285 right now and am looking to get to about 160 or so. I can't tell you how much this website has encouraged me. I love hearing real stories from real people and it's really helped answer a lot of my questions. I have been jotting them down in a notebook---still looking for a lot of opinions. Hope it's ok to ask questions? :rolleyes I am also looking for some sort of suppport team. All of you are an inspiration to me and I hope I can do half as good at this as you all are! :clap2:

Welcome from Texas Melanie. Don't be to nervous it will go well and ask all the questions you need to. I was banded last April and am 8 from goal, so it will happen if you work that band. My daughter lives in Minneapolis. The best to you.:)

Well thanks so much! So nice to see all the success stories--along with some of the not-so-good stuff. I think I can do it. Am anxious to meet with the dietician and behavioral specialist. The more I read and learn about the band, the more anxious I am to get one. I can't wait to add 20 years to my life! I was worried about getting support from my husband, but when the doctor said "most patients in your condition have a life expectancy of around 50. With the band, you can add approximately 20 years on to your life.." That was quite a reality slap! :omg: So I am looking forward to the procedure.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
