hi

i am in the process of deciding on a doctor for my surgery and would like to know if ayone heard of him. i went to the seminar in the physician-surgi center.

2 previous patients gave the seminar but no doctor.

i thought that was weird. when i investigated this in NY...one of the top lap band surgeon's there gave her own seminar.

anyway any suggestions are greatly appreciated

thanks

This is definitely new. All the top surgeons here, Spiegel, Spivak, St. Laurent, Davis, etc. do their own seminars. I didn't know that the surgicenter did seminars. That's where a lot of us had our surgery, but didn't attend seminars there. I haven't heard of Ken Hollis. I've never seen him mentioned on here.

Why not look in the newspaper and attend one of the seminars by the leading lapband doctors? Review threads on here that discuss Houston doctors. Make an informed decision based on the surgeon.

Good Luck

thanks barbara for your reply.

i like what i see about dr spivak. i also like dr spiegel's reviews on here but his "monster marketing" turns me off. maybe i shouldnt judge him on this but it seems both of those guys get the biggest kudo's

thanks for your help

Actually, he's one of our main doctors performing the Lap-Band in the Houston area now. He has performed LAP-BAND's in Florida until recently. Now he is performing surgeries at the True Results Surgery Center of Houston. It's also where most of our seminars are being held for Houston.

7515 South Main St. 8th Floor

Green Park One Building

Houston, TX 77030

From what I've heard, he's a great surgeon. Don't trust me though, I'm biased because I work in the marketing department! ;-)

If you want some more info I'd be happy to send it to you!

Best wishes,

Justin

josiebies,

I used Dr. Spivak. He does his own siminars and his bedside manner is great. His staff is awesome. The after care and fills are free for one year and so are the support groups on Tuesday nights.

What part of Houston are you in?

I know of someone who had their surgery done by Dr. Hollis at Surgery Center you mentioned. The surgery went well and she is doing fine.

I had Dr Hollis's seminar and it was led by one of his patients the had been banded almost 2 years. She spoke highly of him and pointed him out to us at one point when he came from a procedure to talk to a spouse.

He took the time to look into the room where the seminar was and smile at us in spite of his hurriedness to get to the awaiting spouse. I knew that kind of consideration would go far in my book. I chose him for the procedure and since i was a cash pay, it was done a week later. ITs now beena month and I had my first fill with him today. Everything went great. He answered all my questions and told me i was doing great even though i had only lost 6 pounds so far. I recommentd him.

I had to have my band removed and he was the only one who would touch me as I had my band put onin Mexico. He saw me the same day I called and operated a day later. His bedside manner was great and he explained everything. If I get rebanded he will be my man FOR SURE! I also know some of his other paitents and they are doing great. Good luck to you! He operates off of 1960 and jones rd (Cypress fairbanks medical center).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
