Weight coming ioff extremely slow!

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow banders! I was banded Sept. 11, 2013. Since then I've only lost 26 pounds While I am happy I am down, I feel my weight is coming off too slow. Some months I don't lose at all and I'm on my 4th fill! I have about 50 more pounds to lose to get to my goal weight of 145. At the rate I'm going though, that's gonna take forever!! It seems like everyone is losing at a much faster rate than I... What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions or comments are welcomed.

Thanks,

Kelli Coley

What does your food intake look like? Are you counting every calorie? Are you eating too much? Are you eating too little?

While you say you've had 4 fills; do you know how much is in your band and what size band do you have? I haven't had a fill yet but I've read from others that some doctors only give little 0.5 cc fills at each visit while others get 1-2 or more cc's. So 4 fills might only equal someone else's 1 fill.

You are doing good! As I said to another person, now you have lost 26 lbs! Before lapband, you would have woohooed for losing that much in 6 months. Don't bash yourself!I agree with kimk1999, how much do you have in your lapband? You might not even have 5 cc, if your surgeon is a moderate filler. Make sure that you are eating your Protein 1st and then your veggies, try staying away from carbs, and drink your Water, too. Best wishes, make sure that you are following doctor's orders. AND YOU'RE COMPLAINING??? "gonna take forever"....

Forever is really the goal here....at least for me.

PS....not everyone is losing at a much faster rate....my average has been around .65 pounds per week....but it's been 4+ years, so it sorta adds up. ;)

Best wishes on your CONTINUED success.

26 lbs is more than average and much more than I lost the first 4 months. 6 lbs a month is the number most doctors tell us we can lose and you're doing it. Be proud and happy you're doing better than most.

as long as you are losing (inches also means true/accurate weight loss)

that is the name of the game.......there is no time limit to get to the number/goal you seek

and no expiration date before the band expires.......some lose slow, some fast......WHO cares

as long as we get there, healthily, using common sense, keeping up with dr appts to make sure all is ok,

eating great foods, exercising, who cares how long it takes....

we all want instant 100 pound weight loss overnight

and if it dont happen then by dawg we must be doing something wrong

screw that we are exercising, eating our allotted amounts and exercising.......

see what i am trying to say??

stay the course, do the right thing and it will happen

maybe not as fast as you want, but if you do it, it will..........

Please don't get in the habit of comparing yourself to others. You are setting yourself up for failure by doing that. All of our bodies are different. As long as your surgeon is happy with your progress, you should be too. It took me 2 1/2yrs to reach my goal and that's ok. Others it only took a few months and that is okay too. The slower the better because that way you are developing lifelong habits that will hopefully last a lifetime. Just keep following your doctor/nutritionist's orders and you will get there. Congratulations on what you've lost already and continued success.

You sound almost identical to me, but I am not discouraged. I had a nice talk with the NP on my last visit(fill number 4, I now have 4.5cc's in my 10cc band) She first of congratulated me for maintaining my weight over the holidays and said a lot of people don't lose a lot of weight after your first few fills unless you have over 100lbs to lose. She said I should see a difference with this fill, and she is right. I finally can fill some restrictions and am having to slow down when eating some foods. So I have decided to kick up my exercise and stick strictly to no more than a cup of food per meal. Even though my scale is not moving I am losing inches so something is definitely happening. Hopefully, this will get the scale moving. It will come we just have to be patient. :D

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
