Hair Loss please help

Recommended Posts

I am about three months post op and I am loosing MAJOR amounts of hair daily! I'm getting 70-75 of Protein on average, taking hair skin and nail Vitamins on top of my other vitamins! I am so scared I'm going to be bald if this continues. Any suggestions other than what I'm already doing? Thanks!

You are not by yourself, I am 3 months post op and losing a lot of hair too. They say it don't last forever, it will slow down. Keep doing what you are doing with the Protein and Vitamins. I know it is frustrating, but hang in there. It will get better for us :)

hair loss slows down around 6months which is when most ppl have lost majority of their weight, loss of hair will slow down but still keep Protein up near 80grams daily, lack of protein can always give us Hair loss.< /u>

It's scary. But it will slow down. It's emotional and it sucks but it gets better.

I also took Vitamins, got my Protein, and used a special Shampoo. Now at 7 months, my Hair loss has slowed quite a bit and I'm even seeing regrowth. :)

Thanks everyone I'm trying to stay positive, hopefully I'm not bald by the time it stops. I'm not concerned about my looks it's just so scary to see your hair falling out by the fistful.

My hairdresser suggested to leep it in a simple style. She said people notice it more when you try to fluff it up to cover the loss.

Are you taking Biotin? I'm told that helps (but I have a lot of hair).

Just hang in there. I always had lots of hair and didn't worry when I saw it falling out...always thought I had more than enough. About six months after the surgery, I saw Patches of scalp and freaked out. I did the same...took Biotin and upped my Protein with powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury powder and also started taking Iron. It took a while, but it's finally growing back and while it's still thinner than I'd like, you can't easily see my scalp anymore.

My doc OK'd Biotin and Folate - I'm taking both. I also use Nioxin Shampoo. I'm throwing everything against the wall to try to slow it down. Also focusing on my Protein - min 80 grams per day.

Indigo suggested a product called Toppik - I just got my order in last week and I love it. It hides really thin spots. I'm thankful she suggested it!

Keep in mind blood thinners and general anesthesia can also contribute to Hair loss. So can anemia and the physical and mental stress of surgery and all the changes associated with it. My hair started falling around 6 weeks. Kept up the Biotin and Protein and still didn't slow it down. Already had thin straight hair. At 9 months post op chopped my hair off into a pixie to get rid of all the damaged hair and the hair loss has basically stopped. So even if you think you are doing everything possible and nothing is working, just remember it will taper off.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
