What should my true goal weight be?

Recommended Posts

Hi, i'm almost six months out. My weight last year was 387 pounds, my weight on the day of surgery was 341 and now it it mid January and my weight this morning was 240 pounds. I have lost just a tad over 100 pounds in this amount of time which is fantastic. But my pulmonologist thinks I have lost too much weight but originally I wanted to get down to 225 but the way I have been losing I almost wonder if I will lose more weight than that. Have you guys started losing weight with a "desired goal" in mind and changed that number up or down after you had some sleeve time? Do you guys think that I have lost enough weight??? Let me know.

When you can move and breathe comfortably and feel better than you have in years, that would be a good place to consider.

I think this is something you should speak to your primary MD or your surgeon about. According to your BMI, you are still overweight. Will you get down below 225? Maybe, but once you level off you might put a few pounds back on so it's not a bad thing to have a few pounds "in the bank". Part of the issue may be that your pulmonologist may be used to seeing you at your heaviest and isn't used to seeing you at this weight. Ultimately it's your decision. Good luck!

For me I started at 362 before surgery and years ago was actually at 418. My "goal" was 230. I talked to my PCP about it when I got to 230 and he basically said I am still overweight and that I should let my body decide what weight I should be at. I am now at 219, 9 months out and have no intentions right now in worrying about it. I will just do as my Dr. said and let my body decide when to stop.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
