Band incisions were closed with staples covered with sheets of clear sticker stuff. Had another lap surgery a few weeks ago and he used absorbable sutures and steristrips, covered with the same sticker. Except for the navel incision which was left as-is (and ended up pulling open).

I found the sutures & strips to be MUCH itcher than the staples, but the scarring (so far) much, much less.

He used dissolvable internal stitches and steristrips on me. He normally uses staples, but I made a big to-do about it, so he said he's try not to use staples unless he had to.

1 incision ended up bubbling out and forming a weird scar.

For my revision surgery it was steri-strips again.. not sure if there were any internal stitches.

In my case were stitches inside that dissolve in a couple of weeks, and glue in my skin (dermabond). I am great. My surgery was in Tijuana, B.C. Mexico. And my follow up by camera in the internet with my surgeon, and my doctor here in the US. Everything looks perfect.

Glue and Steri Strips. Worked great so far. Glue is still on port site. I'll let you know when it all falls off on how the scar looks.

Lee:

I noticed that you had gall bladder surgery. I'm scheduled to get gall bladder removed in April. Any suggestions for someone who already has a band and is now getting gall bladder out? Had no complications with band surgery except nausea. I'm guessing there's no way to avoid that with the anesthesia. Band surgery was very easy recovery. How does the laproscopic gall bladder removal compare to band surgery?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Sue

Dissolving stitches and Opsite dressings. My doc used to use steri-strips but said that many of his patients got rashes because of them (which has happened to me with past surgeries). The Opsite was great, it started peeling up on its own in a week and I took it the rest of the way, because I couldn't deal with the dirty half-peeled-up sticky stuff. My incisions look pretty good. I have been putting Mederma on them but I have so many scars and stretch marks already that it's not a huge deal to me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
