African American RNY Sisters

  • Popular Post

Hi my name is Heather and I had RNY on 11/18/13. I am looking to connect with other African American women who had RNY. Any takers?

Hello ladies, just wanted to let you know I am here and following this group :-)!

hi! i have a question...what styles have yall been doing to deal with any hair loss? my hair was already fragile from pregnancy, so now it's so terrible. i'm afraid, though, to try any protective braided styles, if it'll make it worse. i would love some braids though

Hi I just joined this site today and love reading this post. I'm 7 weeks postop. I'm doing very well. I think and on the soft diet. Looking forward to exploring other foods next week. I've lost 30lbs so far, but i struggle with getting the exercise in. I want to do Water aerobics because walking hurts my plantar fascitis so I'm concerned that I don't do the 30 min a day so I'm super diligent to get all of my food and drinks in. Any advice about other exercises I could try?

Awesome @@auntsoe I have plantar fascitis as well with back issues an a shoulder rotator cuff issue so that's what my doctor suggested for me. My mother only does water aerobics an lost way over 100 pounds from it so it works we just have to find time to put in the work..... :)

Try an elliptical workout....

@@dwinette I have a degenerative disc an annular tare and bulging disc I also have sciatic nerve damage in my back so I get really scared messing around I can pull a muscle on it by doing nothing I wake up sometimes an it's acting up..... have been trying to not take any pain meds I know they aren't healthy an can be addictive so I'm going cold turkey an...... I think i will try tomorrow going slow at first an see instead of letting my fears get the best of me..... I'm hoping with weightloss that it will really help my health an injuries.... without surgery

My surgery is on 12/7/15. I am excited and a little nervous. Any 12/7/15 surgeries.

Yesterday was my 2 year surgeriversary. I'm down to 178 from 315hw well 298sw. I'm feeling great but really wanting to drop another 18-25 pounds. I have no regrets except I wish I could control my cravings a little better. I don't have dumping issues so in moderation I can eat everything. I don't most days but I still have my guilty pleasures in small portions hence the reason why I have not reached my goal weight. Anybody else have this issue?

I have sweet cravings at times over a year out. I did experience dumping syndrome...no fun. Anyway, I eat Atkins Endulge snacks, sugar free or no sugar added ice pops, fruits. These help with the cravings, are lower carbs and do not make me feel guilty or suffer weight gain when eaten in moderation. Congratulations on your weight loss btw.
