I can't wait to get back to the gym. I hate not being able to workout the way I used to. I was making such awesome progress.

Anybody else rockin' THICK natural hair glad to see some shedding! LOL

I think I'm gonna put my hair in twists or braids for a couple of months during the shedding phase. That way instead of coming out and going down my drain, it'll all just come out when I take the twists or braids out. My hairs very thick I think I'll be ok with some shedding, I just don't want it in clumps messing up my plumbing lol

Hello. I had GBP on 3/25/15. Doing pretty good. Just waiting for release so I can get to the gym. In the meantime, I'm walking.

I'm AA and will have RNY this upcoming Friday, June 5. Hoping for no complications and a smooth WL journey!

***UPDATE: I contracted a nasty cold with heavy congestion, so my surgery has been postponed until July 7th. :(

Hello all! I just had RNY on 5/27 and I am doing OK just having a lil more pain than I anticipated. It's mainly on the side where they did most of the work. I'm doing ok with fluids I'm sure I'm not getting in as much as I should but I just try and sip away. I would like to know what you ladies were eating at the puree/soft food stage? My NUT has stuff like tuna salad on toast or crackers, Beans, Peanut Butter, oatmeal etc. Will I be able to tolerate those on day 7. I don't have any issues getting anything down at this point, I just have to move slow because my rib cage hurts whenever I blink lol so my desire to sip/eat is not there.

If you all have any tips on what you ate during the beginning stages that would be great! And blessings to all who have upcoming surgeries!!

Wow. Your post goes to show everybody's surgeon is literally completely different and all over the place when it comes to what to eat. My doctor wanted me on liquids only for a week post op. After that I was able to try yogurt, refried Beans, soft cooked eggs, and soft cheeses for a week. Crackers, oatmeal, toast etc are foods she wants us to avoid completely if possible because they fill your pouch and absorb moisture. And they're not high in Protein so you basically fill your pouch without getting sufficient Protein.< /p>

My guidlines are to eat meals that are 75% protein and as minimal carbs as possible. I'm to avoid breads, rice, Pasta, oats, etc. Anything that absorbs or "swells" in the stomach is a no-no as far as my doctor is concerned.

Foods I do well with are chicken that's moist (grilled or baked is best), lean fish, ground meats, well cooked vegetables and soft fruits. I'm careful with foods that tend to be "slider" foods. Yogurt can be a slider food for me so I make sure it has lots of protein and is in low in sugar and sometimes I freeze it a bit so I can eat it more slowly.

Some days I'm not hungry at all, so I just my nutrition. Lots of protein and supplements.

I was ready too, but I think Mother Nature has other plans for me. I contracted a "bug" at the pre-surgery session 5/27 - and it's progressed to a nasty summer cold -- I've been flat on my back with nasal congestion, coughing, and runny nose for the past two days! I called the nurse and she told me to load up on Vitamin C and to call my physician - perhaps she can give me some antibiotics to get over it by Friday morning.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
