I'm 36 yrs old and had lap-band surgery on 6/11/03 at 242 and now weigh 230 -- I am taste those 220's. I'm married with 2 girls and have been wanting to lose weight for the last 15 years - well I have lost and gained and lost and gained...you know the routine. I love the NEW ME and can't wait to get my first fill on 8/13 as I have not much restriction now.
GOOD LUCK to everyone that has been banded or thinking to be banded or about to be banded. I don't regret this for one moment

I have heard that it is cheaper to have the surgery in Mexico, however I was fortunate enough that my insurance paid for mine! You may want to check and make sure that your insurance will not cover it. I know my Dr. makes an appt with you and then they submit it to the insurance to see if you get approved. But, every Dr is different. Best of luck to you!

changingme5 reacted in xray advice please
I had gastric banding surgery and I then had a barium xray the day after surgery, then another 5 weeks later to check the 1st fill, but my surgeon said another xray might be needed when I get a 2nd fill.
My question is surely 3 bariums xays is a lot to have in 8 weeks as I have heard that, these type of xrays are quite high in radiation.
How many other Bandsters have bariums so regular, as I am very concerned and might refuse the 3rd.
I would be very grateful of any comments please

Megan: I had a port revision surgery. IT was a breeze compared to the first surgery. THey use the same incision for the port placement. If he is thinking about moving it to the other side then you might have a second incision on that side. NOt sure how he is going to do it. I had mine cause the port was tilted on it's side and the tubing was almost protruding through the skin. It lies nice and flat now.
PM me and I will give you my home number if you want.
