surgery heebie jeebies

My surgery is scheduled for January 28th. I'm super excited to have it. I have been working towards this since October. I've had surgeries before. I had a meniscus repair on my knee and I've had my gallbladder out. I dont know why I'm feeling anxious. I read on here about a lady who had the gastric sleeve done (that's what I'm having done) and she got a leak and ended up being put into a coma and now I'm nervous lol. I guess I just keep thinking of the negative what ifs instead of the positive as much. Someone slap me and tell me to stop worrying lol.

Hey doubts and fear are common and good to have..there is risk with any surgery..I just had my sleeve done on 12/31. It's been a week and I feel great.im positive that this is the best thing I can do for a brighter and healthier future.do you see a therapist?i know talking about all of this once a week feels great.i was seating bullets just before I went into the operating room.lying on that table I started thinking all sorts of crazy stuff.luckily I had an amazing surgeon who said and did all the right things to put me at ease.ask lots of questions.these forums can be a bit much with so many opinions.think of the reasons why you need this surgery.you will be great.we are human not machines.everyone goes through surgery differently but you'll do great.good luck!

Oh it is so common to worry.. I worried till they wheeled me into the op room. I did ask for a sedative before the surgery. My thoughts were drastic..But my health was drastic.hbp, sleep apnea, andhighcholesterol.i was so fearful of getting diabetes. So now that I had the surgery,I have no complications and less afraid of future health. So which one do u want to choose.. Scared till. Your surgery.. Or scared for your health the rest of your life. Good luck. And keep us posted. Ps keep yourself busy til surgery date.. It will come soon enough.

Dakine183nl you are so close! Don't fear the surgery too much. Surgery does have its problems. But so does slowly losing the use of your body through the yets.... Keep eating and the yets will surely show up.keep in contact with us for support. And ask for as much relaxant as you can before walking into the surgery room. I did and I never regretted it. Let the professionals carry you through the surgery. Put the pillow on your belly for support when wacky friends came by, as mine did.

Enjoy...life is a do over now. Use it to the best of your health!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
