5 days post op. Is this full?

Recommended Posts

So I just put down in MFP that I ate 1.5 c of cheddar potato yeahhh not so much. Think I had more like 2/3 rds of a cup. It was the thickest thing I've tried so far being only five days out and I haven't figured out what full feels like yet. But I did get a odd pressure in my chest. Is that it??

that pressure means you may have eaten to fast .. it feels like it got stuck correct? last maybe an hour or so?? That is what it sounds like to me..

They say, and i am 9 months out, that potato is very hard to get down.. I have had no potato so i cant say for sure. I would switch to maybe a yam or squash.

Snuff,

That sounds similar to what I feel when I am full. It is a tightness in the center of my chest a little lower than my bra line. Just eat slow because the difference between full and pain from eating too much can be one bite.

It will take awhile for you to learn what full is. After weight loss surgery it is a learning experience to learn what full is, to sip slowly, not eat fast, and to chew your food well.

Maybe I was eating too fast lol boy sure seems like I'm going slow but I will slow it down even more. I strained all the potato lumps out of this Soup so there was nothing to chew but it was pretty thick. Coming from having a lap band, it didn't feel stuck the way that food did then. That was a definite I'm stuck. Can't swallow. Can't talk. Mouth filling up. Omg. Panic lol this was just a pressure pain in my chest just under the bra. It's passed now though but I don't want anymore soup lol

Snuff, I am a revision patient also. It sounds like you were full. The same area where I feel full now is around the area where my band used to be.

Hi, I am 9 days post op. I to get a similar sensation when full, or what I am learning is full. Also I had a lot of uncomfortable pressure into a low pain all through my first week associated with eating. I was unable to release gas. Every time I began to eat it would build quickly. I began to take 1 pepcid every 12 hours and 2-3 gasX throughout the day and it helped so much. I was able to finally eat with out discomfort! Now I do not need it. Keep up the great work and hang in there. We are on a similar time line in this new journey. Would be great to stay in touch.

it's quite the learning process. Scared to get stuck like band days. I don't want to have to get u know unstuck like that being only a few days out. Hours later and I'm still not hungry though :)

I'm still having that has pain too :( I think it's in my back and shoulders. I did take a Pepcid a few days ago so I've got a whole bottle. I'm gonna take your advice and start taking those everyday for awhile. I didn't think about gasX cause I figured that would only help gas pain in my stomach and not the kind that's outside there. But whatever works lol I would love to stay in touch!! I don't know how to "friend" you but I'm very friendly lol

I have not had one instance of food getting stuck since I have had my sleeve, and hope you have the same. I didn't start experiencing any hunger until a week post-op. At that point it was not uncontrollable nor has it been since surgery. I am 10 weeks out.

Hope today feels better! I didn't think about the pepcid and gasX ( I got the chewable ones) either. My surgeons nurse recommended that I try it. She said in healing the stomach can produce more gases along with the acid. It was so very helpful for me. I didn't get full relief until I took them both. For me it was exactly what was needed. I have not needed them for 3 days now. I have not had a stuck feeling at all. I was not instructed to puree food, just chew, chew, chew. I feel fortunate at how well it has gone. I also had my gallbladder removed so I will get it all figured out soon lol. I am sure with a few more days of healing it will get better :o) Have a great day

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
