What's your "splurge"

Recommended Posts

Come on! You know everyone has something that they do that is against the "rules"...

Mine is espresso. I know that I'm not supposed to have caffine, but I haven't been able to find espresso Beans that are decaffeinated? I don't have one every day and I make it myself so that 1. I'm not spending a lot of money at the coffee shop and 2. I can control what goes in it. I would say I have maybe 3-4 per week.

I grind my own Beans and make it in my Kurig coffee maker. (mine has a little filter so I can use the Kcups or use my own coffee) I use about 1/8 of a cup of cold 2% milk, a splash of French vanilla coffee creamer, and one package of Equal. It's pure heaven to me!

I was super proud of myself a Christmas. My mom kept sending pies, cakes, Cookies, etc. to my house, but I was really good. I would take a bite of my hubby's, and then I was satisfied. All I wanted was a bite. I stuck to my meat and veggies and I was able to only take a spoonful of the "bad" stuff like green bean casserole, stuffing, etc. I describe it as "taste everything, but eat nothing". I KNOW that if I fill up on the bad stuff then there's no room for my Protein and veggies.

I don't do anything against the rules (food-wise) but occasionally I "save up" my calories and carbs and fat counts so I can have a treat at the end of the day. A few days ago I had a light Breakfast and light lunch so that I would have enough room in my macros to have an ounce of the rosemary marcona almonds that Trader Joe's sells. Nuts are ok per my plan but I really have to budget carefully to be able to have more than just a few, and I love these, just a few is not enough!

I have caffeine every day. IMO there is no legitimate medical reason to stop drinking caffeine so long as you don't overdo it. Good for you for only having a bite of the sweets. I can't do that. One bite is never just a bite for me. Better for me to steer clear entirely, which should be easier now that the holidays are over. My splurge is definitely nuts as well, or fancy cheese.< /p>

Caffeine is actually fine. Just don't count it as your Water. It doesn't cause dehydration, it just doesn't count as Fluid intake.

SPLURGE ONE: In my magic bullet -- Greek Blends Non Fat Key Lime Yogurt with 1/8 cup of frozen strawberries and a little bit of banana creme Muscle Milk. Yummy!

SPLURGE TWO: Jello SF Double chocolate Temptations Mousse with a scoop of chocolate Protein powder and skim milk... YUMMMY!

They are both insides the lines but feel like I'm definitely doing something out of bounds!

coffee is fine with my doc too. So my splurge are the sugar free Creamer with exotic flavors. My current favorite is pumpkin spice. I measure out 2 tablespoons. Occasionally have a second cup later in the day. Another splurge is a tablespoon of Peanut Butter. Not everyday but yum (but so high in calories). I've thought of a third splurge - 1 or 2 times per week I have the Quaker low sugar instant oatmeal. Tastes decadent.

My splurge: Jello sugar free Dulce de Leche pudding cup. After my liquid diet, I swore I'd never have another pudding cup again, but then I found these. They taste like flan, and they're so yummy, I bought four more packages today (not all for me, mind you, but when I have one, my kids want me to share, and I have six kids). Anyway, so, so good!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
