I have just arrived at my hotel and tomorrow at 9am is my surgery! I'm nervous but excited and will admit then I totally cheated on my pre op diet and went to Disney and ate at a character buffet with my daughter since I really won't be able to take her to Disney or a restaurant in a while. And now it's all kicking in. I'm praying everything goes we'll, it's my first ever surgery. Any words of advice?

I was 260 last week at my pre op appointment and I weighed myself last night and was only down to 254, but Christmas didn't help at all :(

We'll wish me luck! Tomorrow I will be banded!

I wish I would have thought about eating a buffet before my surgery. And had gallon of cream soda. But now one month shy of 2 years and holding at 150 vs. 285 I will not lie I still think about a rare steak, butter dripping sweet corn and hot bread.

I would not change a thing.

Best of luck.

For any pre-ops reading this thread- the pre-op diet is designed to shrink your liver. Please try your best to follow your doctor's orders. While it does not happen often, some surgeries are not completed because the liver is not small enough. So you get cut into for nothing. It's a very small percentage but it does happen.

I did not say to eat a buffet. I said I wish I had cheated before. I did the liquids for 6 weeks before my surgery. And yes reason for the liquids is to help shirk the liver. I feel it helped me get a better mind set for the days to come. This is a life altering decision to have this surgery. It is the best thing I have done for MYSELF... I did not take on this journey for a significant other but for my own health and self.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
