I want my lap band out!

Not to mention carbonated beverages, chocolates, Cookies, pizza, drinking while eating, etc.

"Here is an idea of what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: (A Breakfast burrito made at home) 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of cheese, 3 slices of bacon, a low carb tortilla and ketchup; and a Diet Mt Dew.

Snack b/w breakfast and lunch was 5 pieces of chocolate. (less than the total size of a handful)

Lunch: was 3 slices of a medium pizza with 12 ounces of Diet Pepsi.

Snack b/w lunch and dinner: was a greek yogurt cup.

Dinner: 1 cup of taco meat (very VERY VERY ground FINE small pieces) with 1/3 cup shredded cheese, and chips; with 16 ounces of Crystal Lite Kool-ail.

Then last night after dinner, I had 2 sugar Cookies with a glass of milk."

I'm confused? Are you saying you don't think this is a lot of food/calories? There's a good 2500 calories here? And a lot of meat? I agree that you should get an unfill. Maybe 1 CC?

That was my immediate feeling yesterday, but I could not be sure...still don't know how they got past the screening simply because of bad nutrition and food choices...see where it goes before we "Move" it or "Close" it...could be entertaining after all...

I agree, there are a lot of inconsistencies in her story? First, she can't eat meat then lists meat she is eating? She doesn't eat much but then she lists enough food for a lumberjack? She's all over the place and isn't taking any responsibility for her choices?

I don't know how one can gain weight if they aren't eating too much? I guess if one lived off of milkshakes or triple cheeseburgers one could say they don't eat much?? Or not?

Sunnygrl, I'm not attacking you but your story is more than a little weak? Not only do you need to visit your doctor for an unfill, I'd suggest some nutrition counseling with a psychologist.

I'm glad that some of you are catching on....I was about ready to jump in with my 2 cents worth but you have hit the nail on the head. Looking at her profile, there are inconsistencies with what she has posted. At any rate, this has been a good reminder for us newbies on what to eat and not eat, etc. Thank you all for your comments, very helpful to me as I am making the transition from liquids to solid foods.

B-52 makes some very good points above.

I would like to add that I eat meat regularly. Love a small bit of steak. I like chicken, and yes, pork chops too. There is nothing that I CANNOT eat, particularly if I chew well.

If you are having issues eating, please, see your doctor or your nutritionist. You are not off to a good start.

I had to give up lobster :( I can't chew it anymore. As far as meats, just filets are tender enough other than meatballs, which I am cooking now for the freezer. I am eating more fish than ever before and that is a great thing.

I am not a troll. I came to this forum seeking real support and advice. I am a real person, with a lap band put in over a year ago. Struggling, seeking support and understanding. Guess I went to the wrong place.

I said i couldn't eat much meat, See page 1 and my replies there after. That was yesterday's only meal. My eating is not consistent with the band. What I ate yesterday I can't eat today. And actually today, I can't even eat that. It won't go down. My band is not consistent. I haven't had a fill since April, but food not going down is a recent thing, within the last 3-4 months.

I don't eat a whole pizza at one sitting. Noone is understanding me. You all are quick to judge and label me as a troll.

Appreciate the support.

Perhaps people did jump to conclusions...but read the posts...your story did have many inconsistencies....perhaps you can clarify it for everyone what you were trying to say.....

We draw conclusions because over the years, there have been many who have tried to give this WLS a bad name under false pretenses....if so, we're sorry....

In MY EXPERIENCE...the Lap Band DOES change the way I eat, AND the foods I eat....in the beginning, within the first 6 months, I had to learn the hard way that I cannot fight the band....if I wanted this to work, I had to change.....sure, my whole life was all about eating the wrong way, and it was a hard habit to brake...within 6 months?....But I had to accept that fact....

It was because of my old habits I was as fat, and had as many medical problems as I did.....

Once I did realize not to fight the band, and I STARTED TO CHANGE, things began to fall into place, everything ran smoother and easier....

For me, the days of cheeseburgers, french fries, steaks, pizza, to name a few, are long gone...history...

What I got in return was normal weight, good to excellent health, big boost in self esteem and social life.....not a bad trade off if you ask me....

I said in my earlier post that I have told people the Lap Band is not for everybody...even if they are Obese...because I knew these people and knew they did not seem like the type to accept change very well, if at all....

I am still learning....I am still finding ways to eat healthier....still giving up foods I find are not that good for me....getting healthier all the time....at 62 years old, what else can I do?

Ok, here let me see if I can clarify... I want my band out. It isn't for me. I don't eat a whole freaking pizza at one sitting. I MAKE BAD food CHOICES!

Most meals I cannot eat meat. I TRY. And most times it won't go down, so it comes back up. So then I give up on it and eat something else that I can eat. THIS IS NEW! And I have not had a fill recently.

I just wanted peoples perspective, advice, support, etc. This is not making me feel any better.

And why does it say, where it lists my name next to my post that I am preop??? My profile says POST OP. WHICH I AM!!!! I am not preop! It has been over a year since I had the band put in.

Sorry you got things mixed up and confused, perhaps misinformed before you had your surgery....most people are fat because we eat too much, AND the wrong foods....I know that was my problem... I could eat an entire large pizza all by myself...and wash it down with a few beers...I have the t-shirts to prove it.... But now, thanks to the surgery...I cannot get through a single slice...so I gave it up entirely....and that is the way I like it....I am unable to over eat...no matter how hard I try...my portion sizes are automatically set by the band, not me or what I want to do..... And yes...it has also limited some of the foods I eat...but I have noticed that the foods I no longer eat are foods that were not that good for me in the first place... Such as breads, flour products such as donuts, pastries, pies, etc....rice...pasta, to name just a few....and what is nutritional about pizza? ?? I no longer eat red meat...much to the delight of all my Dr.'s including my cardiologist. They all have been preaching to me for years that I should cut back on meat...if I cannot quit it entirely, then consume it just one day a week they said.....that was years before I had this surgery, after my first heart attack......all because it was good health advice....so when the band gave me trouble, I quit meat altogether and I don't miss it, and I can tell the health improvement......everyone is happy including me...never felt better. I'm a little surprised you got through the initial evaluation and approved for this surgery...., since over eating was never your problem for being fat....generally that is the first thing talked about....inability to control our food consumption and portion sizes.....therefore failing at traditional diets and everything dieting entails........ When I talk to people about this surgery at support groups and first time orientations, etc., I am sure to mention it is NOT for everyone...not everyone can deal with what they're asking for.....(I see it on this forum everyday) In any event, that is one good thing about the band....you can easily have it removed....it is reversible....allowing us to eat whatever and whenever we want...just like before the surgery. Sunnygrl, what's with the passion for pizza? Few of us even eat the stuff anymore. If we do, it's a rare occasion. It's not ruled out but it's not a healthy option.

I agree with you though, you should have your band removed since it sounds like your condition and personality won't work with the band. Good luck.

I can see that you are having issues with your band. If you want the band out then you should by all means start looking into that. If you want to work with your band you are going to have to go back to the basics reset and start again.

What you listed in your meal plan for the day is a lot of food to be eating banded or not banded and the choices of the food are very poor. I understand that part of your condition is making poor choices and texture aversion, and I get that you like to eat meat like chicken and pork and there should be no reason why you are unable to eat the things that work for you.

If you want to be successful with the band you are going to have to work on your choices and aversions and that means getting counseling and working with your psychologist and nutritionist to do that.

Some of the reasons you are getting stuck and are uncomfortable right now could be that you are filling up and stretching out with carbonated beverages which are a TOTAL NO NO with the band.

If you are eating and drinking at the same time you may be pushing the food down so fast it doesn't have time to filter through your band and instead is piling up on top in the pouch and then causing you to have that stuck feeling and causing it to come back up.

The more things come back up the more trauma you are causing to your stomach, and your band which could have now since you last saw your Dr. in April have caused erosion or slip in the band which is giving you even more discomfort when eating solid foods.

We are not doctors here and this is only speculations based on our individual observations and experiences. The best thing for you to do is to go back to basics and stick to Protein shakes and mushy foods until you can get yourself to your doctor to find out what's going on with you and your band.

yes I'm afraid we are being duped here.. nobody with an ounce of sense would think eating pizza and chocolate are part of the banded life... this is a waste of time...

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
