Low blood sugar

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone I had my surgery November 5th and things have gone well. Recently though I have been having low blood sugar issues at various times during the day. I am not a diabetic but do know what low blood sugar looks and feels like. I have started combatting it with some orange juice but am wondering if I should be doing something different. Any thoughts, suggestions or similar experiences would be interesting for me to hear.

I have had low blood sugar for many years. The best thing to do is to eat more Protein. The oj just keeps it coming back by putting too much sugar quickly back into your system and then causing the drop to happen again. So watch your fruit and dont drink juices at all. The only time you would do that is if you were so low you were about to have a seizure or coma etc. EAt or drink your Protein.< /p>

Are you checking your blood sugar or are you assuming it is low? I ask only because I was getting dizzy and lightheaded and it turned out to be that my blood pressure was actually too low.... Dr. decreased and then eliminated my blood pressure meds.

I am diabetic (although am off one insulin since having the sleeve done). Low blood sugar should be combated with a glass of milk and some form of Protein. juice does no good and can actually harm.

How often are you taking your blood sugars?

I am also having low blood sugar. I am not diabetic either. I am checking often and I am ranging between 57 and 81. I am 8 days post op and am so nauseated that I can not get anything in me but Water every 10min (30mls) and apple cider when too low. I can not get in any Protein and threw up today when my tongue touched the spoon my meds were on. I am at my breaking point with the nausea and having low blood sugar does not help.

I am on the patch and am taking zofran every 8 hours without much relief. The patch is causing dizziness and blurred vision on top of it all. Thankfully I am not in any pain.

Hope your level out and will be watching your thread for any advise.

I don't understand people who aren't diabetic taking their sugars regularly. I wouldn't do it if I wasn't diabetic!

Low blood sugars can kill.....you need to contact your doctor.

I had gestational diabetes so I know how and when to check my sugar level. Still very scary being too low especially when I can not get anything in me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
